Step right up to September No Buy!

I'm in this month. The past 2 months my budget has gotten out of control. I have to get back on track.

9/1: $93 (vacuum cleaner, new sheets, and my sons winter coat)
9/2: $0

Had a major spending day yesterday but it was budgeted. My DD's 4th birthday is tomorrow and we got her gift and all the things for her "pretty princess fairy tea party" :rotfl:

9/1- $50 (breakfast, pizza, farmers market)
9/2- $60 (budgeted for bday)

I really want to try this. I keep meaning to every month and then I miss the first and feel like I have already goofed up so I stop. And yes, I have done that AGAIN this month, but I still want to try. I'll probably not do too well, but I have to start somewhere.

I am not going to count necessities like groceries, gas, or bills against my no buy days. So, I'm just going to record everything else.

9/1 - Target
9/2 - Not Good - trip to Orlando for IKEA shopping (Gas/Eating Out/IKEA)
9/3 - Staying home, trying not to order anything online!

It's great to see all these new faces! It was a long weekend so I got a little too spendy. Also, because of my days off last month, my last pay check wasn't where I wanted it to be. I'm planning on working 50 hrs for the next couple of weeks to catch up on my wedding savings fund.

I was at the CNE on the 1st and bought a smart cover for my iPad for just $20. Even though it's something I've been intending to buy, I'm going to put it in my budget. Then yesterday I bought screen savers for my new phone and iPad...today's looking like a no buy day though cause everything is closed and we bought groceries yesterday. Not the best start to the month, but I'll get better for sure!

For this month, I'll be going to the national bridal show, treating my bridal party to an afternoon tea and will be going to a national park for a girls weekend. I think I'm going to increase my no buy days to offset all those big ticket numbers.

I am in! First time for me, I have wanted to see what this is about for awhile and I think its great!

1. We got a kitten so that was expensive (if only one day earlier haha) His name is Flynn (from Tangled, like you couldn't guess). We also had to get all the items for the kitten.

2. Groceries item, powerade and chicken.

3. nothing as of right now :)

Eat out only on Fridays, Pre plan all shopping trips with a list. Take my lunch to work every day. And eat it!

blew no food out today.
We had to go get DS16 Cross Country spikes for races (budgeted item) but there was some big festival going on so we were out way later than we expected so we had to eat. I was starting to get shaky and a headache so I decided health was better than not spending money.

9/2 lunch $60

Ergh, right back on the band wagon though!

EXCELLENT attitude. :cheer2:

It is a hard month for me even to identify a target. "NO dumb spends" is pretty close. Plus, I want to see how much of my $80 allowance I can still have in my pocket at the end of the month.

I am exempting a trip to Orlando for a wedding.

Total so far:
dumb spends: 0 spends, 0$
Allowance fun: 0/$80

Just think, we are already 1/10 of the way through this month. Cheers for all of us who enjoyed this holiday weekend without overspending.

I need to participate this money. I am already off to a bad start with the good labor day sales. Starting today, I am in. Especially since we are going to MNSSHP next month. I am going to be focused on no extras!

This month I am just tracking no buy days. My goal is 15 no buy days to help encourage me to plan all stops. I will list what I spend to help me budget for next month.

9/1 $0
9/2 Walgreens $4.05 saved 14.48, BiLo 21.30 saved 37.29, Harris Teeter 39.62 saved 26.96
9/3 $0 Went to parents for late lunch!
9/4 Need to buy gas cards from HT and green peanuts from the Pig for a coworker (she wants to boil them)

Total spent 62.64 Saved 78.73
No buy days 2/15

Today has been good for me. I was busy cleaning and organizing my sons room that I haven't had much time to do anything else or look at sales online. I listed 4 things on Craiglist and 1 sold for $80 and someone is supposed to come tonight for a $25 item. So I actually ended up making money today :) Now I just need to list the other stuff I have in his room on Craigslist and sell it. I'll be happy to have the money and not the clutter!

09/01- $0
09/02- Budgeted Groceries; $0 otherwise
09/03- $0

I am a littled disappointed in my reward programs this month. I try to make $1/day on each of the 2 different rewards programs I use, primarily by taking surveys. I figure the extra giftcards to amazon and restaurants will be handy when we move. Well, it seems that survey companies took the long weekend off because I haven't been able to qualify for any surveys on one and the others says none are available :(

9/3 $0 spent

Did spend $160 on a Blu-ray player and cables today but that was a budgeted expense. DH also found cables on clearance for $10 so he put the $40 ones back. The only thing he didn't account for in the budget was the extended warranty but it was less than the cables he put back. We came in $40 under budget, I told him no more than $200.

We cut cable tomorrow!!!

Tomorrow will be the true test of budgeting, I'm going grocery shopping.

Oh and DS11 found milk tickets in the pocket of his uniform shorts so I went from needing $12.75 in tickets to only needing $9.50 in tickets!

I also made a rough menu for the month. I think I need a second dry erase calendar though. I want to be able to move meals around if things pop up on sale.

My kitchen is also spotless!! DH and the boys really helped get it clean. We have found that a dirty cluttered kitchen makes it more likely for us to buy take out.

(I'm tracking only Eating Out/Junk Food/Vending Machine/General Impulse Food purchases.)

9/1 - $0
9/2 - $0
9/3 - $0 Stayed home again, trying to calm DDs anxiety over starting Middle School tomorrow...

Total: $0 (Goal < $65)

Forgot to mention that I've decided to try to give up Diet Coke. I have a moderate habit - I drink 2 or 3 most days (I don't drink coffee, Diet Coke is my substitute). But besides the fact that it's not so good for you and the cost (for me, about $20 a month - that's $240 a year!), I've been having some stomach problems that the Diet Coke aggrevates. So I'm attempting to switch to home-brewed iced tea, lightly sweetened with old-fashioned sugar. So far so good, but I'm going to track the number of Diet Cokes I drink during the month here on this thread as well as my normal stuff, to give myself some accountability. Hope no one minds!

So....drumroll....
Diet Cokes: 0 (Goal: 0) :)

Much better today! I took DD for her "special birthday Starbucks" and spent less then I usually do when I go by myself! :rotfl2: But it was budgeted so I don't feel too bad. Now I am hoping for a string of "no buy" days!

9/3- $5.51

I worked all day today. I did run into half price books since they were having a hug sale but I had a giftcard so no money came out of my pocket.

My goals are:

2 nights eating out dinner
Only 1 lunch out per week
12 No buy days

9/1- $116.68 Groceries (I should be stocked up for the next two weeks) and $5 Dairy Queen
9/2- $41 Brunch at Mon Ami Winery, $5.60 in the gift shop, $11.90 fresh produce, and $5.51 save a lot
9/3- $0

Sounds like fun! College student living at home so my groceries are taken care of, I pay bills monthly so my purchases are only going to be for entertainment as well as odds and end food purchases.

Main goal is no eating out at all this month. Commuting to school I need to make sure and bring my lunch everyday so I don't end up buying stuff there.

My goal is 15 no buy days (hopefully more)!

9/1: $0
9/2: $30 Concert Tickets
9/3: $0
9/4: $3.50 Knitting
9/5: $7.37 Groceries
9/6: $0

Diet Cokes: 0 (Goal: 0) :)

WOOHOO!! Good job!!
I gave up soda cold Turkey on October 24 2011. And while I crave a soda every now and then I don't regret giving it up.
I feel so much better now.

Sounds like fun! College student living at home so my groceries are taken care of, I pay bills monthly so my purchases are only going to be for entertainment as well as odds and end food purchases.

Hey stranger!!!

Our 5th dating anniversary is tomorrow, but I think we're just going to have a dinner in where we both help to make the food. I'm not really sure what he's planning though. For the past 4 yrs, we've taken a weekend trip somewhere but this year has been going by really fast for us.

I'm going to try very hard not to pay for food this week. Or at least until Friday. That includes all drinks and snacks! I've decided to cut out soda for this month too!

Buffy: Good job on cutting that cable! I love my Netflix, especially since it's got such great shows and movies on it now.

I had the day off. My allergies are killing me today so I did end up at Target for some medicine (and other items ;) ). Also stopped for some gas to last until payday

My goals are:

2 nights eating out dinner
Only 1 lunch out per week
12 No buy days

9/1- $116.68 Groceries (I should be stocked up for the next two weeks) and $5 Dairy Queen
9/2- $41 Brunch at Mon Ami Winery, $5.60 in the gift shop, $11.90 fresh produce, and $5.51 save a lot
9/3- $0
9/4- $45.89 Target and $15.45 Gas

Ok, I take the "No food" back. I just realized I'll be going out a lot this month....so I'm just going to completely remove "Eating out for lunch" from my budget. No eating out for lunch this month!

Hey Kayla, living at home while in college is such a great money saver! When I was away for school, I just didn't eat much...not the best for my health but great for my budget! What concert did you buy tix for?

9/4 $0

Didn't go to the grocery today because we had downpours from Issac. So we hung out at home (kids had the day off).

AndI got 8 scrapbook pages done, using my current supplies only!

I do need 3 pieces of paper for 2 pages (only have a 1 page layout and I need a 2 page layout) but I won't buy those until I actually get to those page kits.

And I cleaned up the pantry today, so it looks great!! We DO NOT need cereal any time soon! LOL
