TSA shutdowns in the future?

Is there a set time during the year when this TSA issue with the shutdowns occur? I remember hearing last year after they opened the government back up, that there was another date in early 2026 that it could go back down again, and here we are.

TSA PRE-CHECK was shut down for a minute, but rolled back almost immediately. They are starting up Global Entry as well.

Are you asking about a new Pre-Check shut down, or something else? And honestly, with the state of things right now, I don't know if anyone is going to have a clue.

No, there isn’t. The shut downs have only occurred because Congress could not come to an agreement on funding the government. What had been happening was they would agree on short, temporary funding to avoid shutdowns. They did not do that last fall, so because there was no agreement & no temporary funding, the prolonged shutdowns happened. When the last funding agreement happened, it only provided temporary funding for Homeland Security with the intent Congress would negotiate & solve the ICE issues before it was fully funded. They did not reach an agreement, so the temporary funding ran out. Now agencies of Homeland Security, including TSA, are working, but there is no money to pay them. There is no way to know if or when Congress will reach an agreement & funding will be restored. There is also no way to know if they will agree on permanent or temporary funding. If they only fund temporarily, the whole mess could happen again when that runs out.

I have to correct a couple of things. ICE and CBP are funded for the next two years as part of the reconciliation bill that passed last summer. It's all other parts of Homeland Security that do not have funding. If, whenever this is resolved, it's a full year spending bill, then October 1 would be the next possible issue date.

I didn’t say ICE wasn’t funded, I specified TSA. Yes, the administration made sure ICE was funded. I said the ICE issue needed resolving, not ICE funding. And that’s correct, IF a full year funding is agreed to. And as I correctly said, there’s no way to know if they will only agree to temporary funding again. Temporary funding could run out anytime, since we have no way of knowing how long that agreement would be. At this point, a temporary agreement seems much more likely than a full year’s. Nothing I said needed correcting.

The modifier in your original post read that Congress needed to solve ICE issues before ICE was fully funded. You also stated that agencies of DHS were shut down. That's not entirely true, all agencies of DHS are without funding except the two they are fighting about. ICE and CBP. Those are funded.
