steel drum and other music??

My dad really enjoyed the steel drum music played out on deck. I searched the board and found a thread about a Disney steel drum music CD on Amazon and will probably buy that. Does anyone know of any other good steel drum music CD's I could get for him? - not necessarily Disney.
Also - he really liked the Mariachi band that was on board in Cozumel playing in the atrium. Anyone know of any good CD's like that I could look for ?

In Port Lucaya I bought some steel drum music by the Pan Boyz and like it a lot. They play songs we know. The only song I can think of right now is "Islands in the Stream". I bought the CD at a liitle music store.

If you like Disney music and steel drum music...there is a CD out there called Beauty and the Beat. It is all the classic Disney tunes put to steel drum band. It is a really nice CD to get you in the tropical mood.

I believe Amazon sells it.

Through Amazon.com you can buy music from "One World" a band out of Key West. I have 2 of their CD's. Typical known Caribbean tunes on each. Also I bought Harry Belafonte's (sp?) Gold Hits. Beauty and the Beat is a must. Kathy

Also look in music stores under 'World Music' you'll usually find some carribean steel drum music there as well. Saw a lot of them at the local Best Buy.

DH and I enjoyed hearing the Disney tunes on steel drums when we were spending time in the loungers on deck 4. I knew there HAD to be a CD of that music, but when I asked in the gift shops they knew nothing about it. But when we got home I asked about it on the boards and a couple people knew what CD it was so I did order it (Beauty and the Beat) from Amazon and have really, really been enjoying it. I picked up a couple other steel drum CD's in Grand Cayman too. My favorite is one by Bill Bass.

I also have one by Bill Bass I bought in St. Croix. I love it and it has no vocals so when I listen to it I feel like I just stepped onto the island from the ship. I will have to see if Amazon carries any of his CDs. Kathy

The correct title of the CD by the Pan Boyz is BAHAMA'S GREATEST STEEL DRUM HITS. I like it very much. I believe it is actually steel drums and not a synthesizer.
