We're planning a trip this summer through the Black Hills and then down to Colorado to see a friend in Boulder. We tried to get in the YMCA cabins in Estes Park and Snow Mountain but they are booked.
My Colorado friend said we may like Steamboat Springs. We've been to Breckenridge/Vail/Aspen in the summer and would go back but thought we'd try something new. We don't have the time to go further south in Colorado (we'd love to but driving time is an issue).
Has anyone been to Steamboat in the summer? I'm somewhat leary of ski towns in the summer - some are great and some are like ghost towns (Big Mountain in Montana comes to mind). We have two teens and a dog..... would like to do some hiking, minimal shopping and just take in some nice scenery.
Thanks for any help!
