Steam Mop.....yay or nay???

I have a Shark and I really like it. I used to use a Swiffer Wet Jet but it always left a sticky film on my floors. The Shark leaves a smooth, clean surface.

The only problem I have with it is that they pads don't get really white after washing them. I use vinegar in my wash water and it doesn't help.

I love my shark steam mop. I am unable to have fragrances so after using the swiffer and having to leave the house after it the steam mop is the best. It is amazing how much dirt there seems to be on my floors but it really is easy to use.

How hot does it heat the water???? If it's not hotter than my tap water what's the point of a steam mop?
No clue how hot is it.. takes about 10 seconds from cold tap to steam. My floors are warm after I most them but not hot all I know is my floors are cleaner than ever ;):yay:

Thank you sooo much for this thred! I LOVED my envirosteamer but after 15+ years it died. I tried the shark but it's to flimsy for my taste. I thought they stopped making the envirosteamer because I never saw it in the stores. When I saw this post I checked walmart.com and low and behold there it was!!! My Christmas gift is on it's way to me and I'm soooo happy!!:cool1:

Just bought a shark steam pocket mop.....got it at Costco. I'll let you know what I think.

We bought the Haan a little over a year ago and I am very happy with it. It heats up fast and does a great job on tile and on my hardwood floors. It leaves the floor practically dry so I never worry about water sitting on my hardwood floors.

It came with two pads that are machine washable too.

verdict......

Not crazy about it not being very hot. The whole reason I wanted one was to disinfect the floors with HOT steam. I also find it time consuming because you need to move slow with it. Hmmmmmmmm

Never even heard of these until I started reading this thread. Talk about impulse purchases! I ran out and bought this same one at Walmart a few hours ago.

Not sure I am impressed. I thought it was very easy to use. Cleaned my living room, dining room, kitchen, family room, hallways, and breakfast nook in record time. That was a huge plus. It takes me forever with a mop.

The negative was that it either didn't do that great of a job or my floors are exceptionally clean. We had 12 people here on Christmas and the floors hadn't been mopped for at least two weeks before that (I vacuum all the time). One would assume they would be pretty dirty. The pad was very clean and the floors honestly don't look that different.

I think I will take this one back and order the one that heats the water up to 220 degrees. I like the convenience but I just don't see a big difference.

My Whitewing is hot enough to blister you. I know this because, well, I have done it. :rolleyes1

I have a Haan that I bought about 6 months ago. I love it on the hardwood floors - but find that it really does not clean tile floors in the bathroom very well. It just sort of pushes the dust and dirt to the baseboards. And that's after I vacuum first.

I bought a Shark vacuum steamer (as I always have to vacuum before steaming anyway) for Little Rock. I haven't taken it out of the box yet as the construction guys aren't gone yet.

I've got the Shark vac & steam and I really like it. It's the best hard surface vacuum I've ever used. The steam is fairly continuous with no pumping of the handle necessary, the handle length is adjustable, and the cord is longer than the first gen. Shark that it replaced.

I just borrowed my mom's Shark steam mop today and used it tonight and all I can say is WOW! I think I can see my reflection in my hardwoods. My DH was laughing at me because I walked around for like 10 minutes talking about how amazing it was!

Moved into a condo with ceramic tile throughout. At first I thought I would love this. It sounded so easy... well I was wrong. I would rather vacuum than mop apparently. I tried all the swiffers and wet jets. Nothing actually gets everything without me scrubbing or putting my back into it in some areas.

I am returning the Shark steam mop I got on Black Friday from WalMart. Horrible. I think if you get a steam mop you have to vest a little money into it to get a decent one. I am doing some more research before I buy another one. So glad to see this thread!

Which one will you get??? The Eureka Enviro Steamer??? I didnt see much of a difference either and I vacuum my floors regularly, maybe thats why??? I wasn't impressed that it didn't clean the grout good either. Agree it must not be hot enough.

I think she got the same one as you did...that's how I read her post anyway.

Yes, but she also said she will return it and get a different one.

Just started researching them so I haven't decided yet. I think I will first buy based on what our local stores have in stock (Target, Sam's, Walmart, etc.) because it will be easier to return if I don't like it. I really hope I find one that does a great job. I love the idea but my floors don't look any different now than they do when I mop it by hand.
