I happened upon a couple of reservations dh has made for our anniversary. (No, I'm not going to admit to it ) Apparently he made one for both Steakhouse 55 and Napa Rose... I'm guessing I'll get to take my pick that night. We've been to both, but what would you rather?

I would choose Napa Rose everyday of the week and twice on Sundays. I have to go at least once every trip. If i could afford it i would eat there every night. Tried 55 once and my steak was by far better at NR.

Stephanie read this out loud. I think Napa Rose is the most romantic place to eat in all of Disney!

Napa definitely. And if he didn't make a Chef's Counter reservation drop a hint. Loudly. You want seats 5 and 6. If at all possible. And let the Chef choose a menu for you. With the wine flight.

:worship: and I did LOL.... I do agree. Even after 15 years we need the romance! I will admit, our last Napa experience wasn't the best. We ended up next to a family....I go to get away from the rugrats so wasn't a happy camper. The Chef's Counter might be a good idea for us! I just can't wait!

What she said. :thumbsup2

I cant drink that much wine and conduct myself in an appropriate manner. :lmao:
I usually just have one or two glasses.

hey steph, go with the napa rose idea! it is the best! and napa rose is the most romantic place to eat! It will be an anniversary that your DH will never forget :lovestruc:banana:

thanks for the question and the answers - I was just wondering the same thing myself!!

Can I ask why 5 and 6 are the best? Dh and I are going two weeks from tomorrow (yay!) so wondering if we should request these at checkin.

5 and 6 have the most viewing area...and a clear shot of the staff preparing your meals. There is also a food prep area in front of where you are sitting at seats 5 and 6. 1-4 are obstructed with a food display and you do not get a clear shot of most of the kitchen imo. 9 and up you get a side view and mostly see desserts being prepared.

You also get to be right next to the food pass through area...which you can see what is being served to others...and watch all of it go by.

My daughter and I are making a trip to DLR next month and leaving my husband at home. He has been begging me to make ressies at Napa Rose Chef's counter and said he'd fly down just for dinner. From Seattle. You can get a good steak just about anywhere. :)

I had a webpage of the Chef's Counter open when dh got home from work last night.... :thumbsup2 Showed him pics and said hey, let's do this for our anniversary. He told me when he was there working last week he made the ressie...lol. I'm worried as I'm a very picky eater (won't eat Thumper, Nemo, or Donald Duck), so will tell Chef to go easy on me, but otherwise can have his way with my meal...dh is all in. We'll see what he ends up with!

How far out do you need to make reservations at NP? And for that matter BB or s55? I'm usually at WDW and will be at DLR in March.

Is the only method for making reservations to call?

I walked in there tonight to amend my ressie and as far as making my Chef's Counter one, I was able to choose either seating and I'm at 25 days out. They do take ressies 60 days in advance by calling Disney Dining. It never hurts to make them as soon as you know where you want to go.

For the Chef's Counter you have to call the restaurant directly. For regular table service you call Disney Dining.

I would choose Napa Rose if you're doing the Chef's Counter. Otherwise we found Steakhouse 55 just as enjoyable, maybe more so, on our last trip. Napa Rose was nuts (it was CM parties) and just didn't get the service I was expecting. The food was lovely...but not getting great service was kind of a downer. Steakhouse 55 was great service and fabulous food, according to my husband the carnivore ;)

We love both restaurants, but I must add another vote for Napa Rose, particularly the Chef's Counter. Here's my DIS blog that I wrote about our experience there last year, with pictures. It was an awesome meal, and we've been back a couple more times since then. :thumbsup2

We have always had great service at Napa Rose but everytime we go it is a zoo. I totally agree with SH 55, a little more sedate than NR in my opinion.
