Steak at WDW-good but reasonably priced!

DS really wants to go out for a good steak at WDW. I looked at the menus on Deb's site-Shulas and Yachtsman Steakhouse-boy, they seemed expensive! Are there any other places where the steak is good, but more reasonably priced? Does Olivia's serve a decent steak (we're staying at OKW)? Or am I just being too "thrifty"?

A lot of WDW restaurants have steak (other than the "steakhouses" themselves) but reasonably priced may limit your choices. My recollection is that the Concourse Steakhouse is reasonably priced--at least when compared with Shula's and YSH.

I would say that Concourse Steakhouse, Le Cellier, or Kona Cafe might be options for you. All offer steaks in the $15-20 range (depending on cut) as opposed to the $25-35 range (or more in the case of Shula's!) at Yachtsman, Jiko, Flying Fish, etc.

We've had steak at all three I mentioned above, and while not the best steak on property, it was certainly a good to very good meal that I would recommend to anyone

We love the NY Strip at LeCellier and the Grand Duke at Cinderella's. Both are around $23-$25.

Thanks, Guys! Sounds like it's LeCellier for dinner. He's also mentioned a real desire to see Illuminations (that's the one fireworks show he's mentioned), so this would work out well. Also, I've heard LeCellier mentioned on these boards a lot, so I'd kind of like to try it.

Be sure to try the cheese soup at LeCellier, Simba's Mom. It's delicious!

The Yachtsman Steakhouse is excellent!! Another great place is the Concourse Steakhouse at the Contemporary. I had a wonderful steak dinner there on my last trip and would go back again in a heartbeat!

We recently ate at LeCellier. My filet mignon was very tender. It was around $23.00. It included potatoes. Salad was not included. Our friend got a New York strip. It unfortunately was tough. He chose to eat it rather than wait for another one to be cooked. They would have brought him another one if he had wanted. So, if something is not right, speak up early. Some in our party ordered asparagus and said it was tough. They also offered a lobster tail with any meal for $10. My friend's 13 year old had one and said it was very good.

We ate at Olivia's for the first time in December 2002 and can't wait to go back. It was great. I had the filet which was excellent with the lobster stuffed shrimp. Two of our friends had the prime rib which they said was very good. For Disney I think Olivia's is a great place for a great meal with out spending a fortune. I have also eaten at Yachtsman which was very good, but very expensive.

Would not return to LeCellier - I thought it was expensive for what you got.

If you don't do steak at Olivia's, make sure you try it sometime. They have a great variety.

Olivia's has Filet Mignon? I thought they had Prime Rib, but not Filet or Steak. That would be ideal since we'll be staying at Old Key West.

DW and I ate at Le Cellier in Feb.. DW's filet was very good, my prime rib was horrible. This was the third time eating at Le Cellier and the only bad steak was my prime rib this last time.

Here is an even cheaper solution. The ribeye at the Pepper Market is very good and it is only $16.95. We have had it several times. And for those that don't want steak you can choose form pasta, pizza, Chinese and Mexican. If you are so inclined you can also use connections vouchers and the your meal is only $11.50 each.

Of course it is no Le Celleir, Concourse Steak House, Shula's or Yachtsman Steakhouse.

My SIL had the steak/shrimp at Olivia's when we ate there, once - and she really enjoyed it!

I'm sure there's better steak on property, but I agree with Chipster - definitely try Olivia's for "something" - it's really a pleasant place to eat!

Post another vote for Le Cellier. The filet there is outstanding, as is the Caesar Salad. Just make sure to make a PS, as it can be tough to get a walk up table. I ate at Kona Cafe once, and we both felt our steaks were similar to Sizzler or Ponderosa fare.
