my dad is booking my ticket with delta how can I convince the FA I am not eligible for the exit row

I don't know how to play the disability card with out making my self sound stupid

Not quite sure what your asking but can't your dad just pick a seat that is not an exit row. My daughter prefers not to sit in the exit row so I just don't book those seats. The exit row seats are clearly marked on the seat map when you choose your seats so it really won't be an issue.

I can ask him not to when I talk to him I am just not sure what is left my dad decided at the last minute that we are visiting family for turkey day very excited about that

You don't have to "play the disability card". The rules are you have to be willing and able. All you have to do if you are booked in an exit row is go to the counter at the gate and tell the you are unwilling to perform the duties required and they will look for someone to switch seats with you.

You should let your dad know that you can't fly in exit row but if you have a disability I would imagine your father knows that so knows you aren't elligible for those seats.

Just wanted to add not all disabilties make you unfit to be in an exit row.

@tinkerbellandeeyor no need to get in a tizzy if you do get an emergency row seat. This has happened to me many times. When I board the plane and see that I am in an emergency row seat I just politely tell the cabin crew that I need to switch seats. They are well used to this and when people near the emergency row take their seats , the cabin crew will then approach them and ask would they mind switching seats. Usually there is no problem, as emergency row seats have more leg room and most people are happy to switch as they get a bigger seat. You dont have to give a reason or make up a fake disability, just inform the cabin crew that you are not comfortable sitting in the emergency row.

BTW, if you are booking last minute, most likely you wont get an emergency row, as these are seen as the most popular seats and are usually the first to be selected.

Typically if you are not a very frequent flyer (Medallion on Delta), you cannot choose the exit row seat in advance.

And adding to what everyone has said...all you have to do, if somehow assigned to an exit row seat, is say "no" when you're onboard. If you're not willing or able to assist, they don't want you there. And there are other people who likely DO want to be there. It's not a problem.

Every day there are many flights where passengers do not want to sit at the emergency exit row. There are many reasons why and none of them require an explanation. Simply tell the agent at the gate you are unable to comply with the requirements for sitting at those seats. If the agent cannot accommodate switching your seats the flight attendants will. They do it every day and it is not a problem.

This has to be one of the odder "dilemmas" I've seen here. OP, you can always change your seat online or call Delta. No need to wait until you are boarding the plane!
