Has anyone ever stayed onsite at Universal even when going to the Disney parks or is too much to drive back to Universal? We are doing 2 days at Disney and then staying onsite at Universal.

I'm torn whether to stay onsite at Disney or offsite close to Epcot like the Waldorf, or possibly just stay all of our nights at Universal??

To be honest, the Universal hotels seem a lot nicer than Disney onsite. I was also considering the Swan or Dolphin?? We are going in November.

Thanks!

For my upcoming trip I am staying at Portofino Bay at Universal and Driving to Disney.I used to stay deluxe or DVC at Disney all the time, but I have to say on my last trip ,the Portofino Bay resort was much more "deluxe" to me and the staff was wonderful.Plus the resort guest express pass can NOT be beat

If you are only going for two days, then just stay at Universal. There are no benefits to staying onsite at Disney. It can take just as long to take the bus from your resort as it does to drive from Universal.

When we went in May, we stayed 7 nights at Universal and drove to Epcot one day and MK another. We had no problems at all driving, and I really don't think it took any longer than it did to get to the parks when we stayed at Animal Kingdom lodge and rode the buses to the parks.

Plus there is the SMSM rates at UO. The longer you stay, the cheaper it is.
Definitely would be a consideration for us.

We're going to FLA for the first week in October. This time, we're doing 2 days at Disney and 4 at US. We'll be staying at 2 different places for this trip. For our Disney visits, we're staying offsite at the SpringHill Suites at the Marriott Village, across I-4 from Downtown Disney. At the conclusion of the Disney part of our trip, we switch over to RPR for our visit to US. This will be our first split stay trip.

On site at Disney is great due to Extra Mgaic Hours and proximity to parks. We always stay at the Swan and love that we can walk to Epcot, the Boardwalk and Disney Studios. If you are a gov't employee, nurse, or teacher, they often have great discounts. Just ask. We have gotten rooms ranging from $99-$149 per night. Both the Swan and Dolphin are beautiful hotels and they share an awesome pool.

We've done both. We did a split stay at AKL and Portofino, staying at AKL first then moving over to PBH. Another time we stayed at HRH and did MK and EPCOT. We didn't rent a car so we hired a private car to pick up and drop off. It worked out better that way and saved us time packing, moving. I would do it that way again.

Also, we find the Universal on-site hotels more to our liking and definitely more pampering and deluxe.
