Staying off property. Uber vs car rental?

2nd WDW trip. Kids much older now 18 & 20, So basically 4 adults on our trip. Trip is March 4th through 13th. Staying 10 minutes away at Lake Buena Vista resort. We have a confirmed reservation for a minivan for $595 (that was same price as renting a sedan and needing an extra car to get our luggage to the resort from the airport & back). Trying to decide if we keep the minivan or cancel it and Uber everywhere. We have 5 days at Disney parks, 2 at Universal, 1 @ Disney Springs.

I know lots of people love staying on property. That's not the purpose of my question. Just talking about car rental vs Uber

You will pay for theme park parking, gas and tolls with the rental car. With a rideshare, you will only pay for whatever trips you take. Rideshares also drop off/pick up closer to the park entrances than where you will end up parking in the parking lot. For the MK, rides shares drop off at the TTC. Unless you plan to drive a lot, I would opt for using a rideshare.

We are also renting a mini van for a week. Staying offsite at Orange Lake. Decided to stay with the rental as we like to spontaneously do other stuff. We are only doing 2 days at Disney as the next week we are at Dolphin/Cabana Bay. Not renting car for second week as we can walk to our parks.
Depends on how much driving you think you will be doing. Have fun!!

We always opt for a rental. We love having the ability to go where and when we want to go somewhere. I understand the appeal of uber but I might be old school and love having a car.

Unless Uber is seating in the front again (I don't think so?) you will need an Uber XL every time. This is more expensive and maybe? less frequent. Not sure. Check right now to see

I weighed Uber vs car rental and ultimately decided on car rental b/c we often stayed til park close and I was concerned there would be a mass of people trying to get Ubers at that time. Already Uber seems to be taking longer at home than it used to to get a ride and there is less transparency on how many cars are in the area.

I would keep the rental. We always stay on Disney property so don’t park at the parks but usually rent a car from Alamo as we take a few days for other area attractions. We like that we can come and go as we please and not have to arrange times and the possibility of someone being late and the cost to pay for each Uber ride to and from the airport and to each of the parks and Disney Springs and to Universal along with tip would probably be close to that amount if not more.

I would choose the rental. Everyone will fit in one vehicle and you can go wherever you decide. Also can avoid getting in to the car of a stranger and you know who all is using your vehicle.

For your travel party, Uber. I'd only rent a car if you needed car seats.

I'd rent, you'd need an Uber XL for every trip and possibly two for the trip to and from the hotel. You're probably close to $100/day in Uber. For that price I'd much rather have the ability to go when I want where I want and not need to deal with the waiting at busier times, or the possible delay just in getting an XL.

I vote for the rental. Much prefer to be able to come and go when we want and not have to wait for a ride. Plus someone above is right that no one can ride in front right norm so you’d need an Uber xl every time and probably two for you and your luggage.

In Orlando, there are more XLs, especially around Disney.

Just something to keep in mind. From the Disney springs doubletree to epcot during peak hours (around park open and close) the regular uber x fare was $35 without tip which was kind of ridiculous in my opinion. Off peak it was $10 or less.

If I was staying more than a couple of days I would opt for the rental. It’s more convenient for sure especially for a family and might even be cost efficient.
