We will be staying in Windsor Palms from 12/11-16, our first time offsite. Since I'm used to using WDW transportation, I'm wondering if there are tips re:parking, since we will have to drive in. If you drive in do you:

Pay for parking? Park in a free lot (e.g. DD), then use WDW transportation? Go from one park to another and, if so, is your parking good for both lots? Have any other tips for saving time and/or money?

We will definitely see MK and MGM. We have a wedding to attend at the Wedding Pavilion; the reception is Epcot's WS at the American Experience and will end at midnight. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would think your best option is to drive to the park and pay for parking $8 per day. Keep your receipt and you can go to other parks and don't have to pay. I wouldn't do the DD free parking option, because then you'll spend too much time waiting for buses--I'd much rather pay the $8 and be there than to spend an extra 45 minutes to an hour getting where I am going.

The wedding sounds really interesting, especially the reception--would love to hear about it when you return.

I would agree with NCRedding about just parking at the park. It will cost you $8.00, but it is good for the whole day, even if you switch parks. Staying at Windsor Palms is great for getting to the parks fast if you use the Sherberth Road shortcut! :smooth: We stayed there this past February and really enjoyed Windsor Palms! As for the shortcut:
After you leave Windsor Palms and hit 192, turn right on 192 and get into the far left lane right away. The first set of traffic lights you come to is Sherberth Road. Take a left onto Sherberth and just follow that until you see the sign that says "All WDW guests" and turn right there. You are now on Disney property in about 10 minutes from Windsor Palms! :cool1:

Hi! We will be at Windsor Palms 12/8-12/15! We almost always stay off-site. Stayed at POFQ for 5 nights in June '04. After 2 nights of sharing a double bed w/DD aged 10 and listening to DH snore all night, I was longing for a 2 or 3br condo with plenty of space, quiet, and privacy!!! I also really hated waiting for Disney transport when the parks closed; I find having my own car much preferable, and quicker too! I'm sure you'll enjoy all the benefits of off-site, even if the theming isn't as Disney as you might hope. Sure am glad to hear about Sherbeth Road, although now that road work on 192 is completed, the drive isn't bad at all!

Great suggestions. Thank you all. I did a lot of research on these boards before arriving at the Windsor Palms selection. I'm really looking forward to staying there.

It will be good to have a car because there are a variety of wedding related activities all over the park...party one night at Boardwalk, golf outing, ceremony wedding pavilion (near GF) and reception at Epcot. Can't imagine waiting for buses for all of those things.

There is no transportation from DD to the parks. They discontinued that because of people trying to avoid paying to park (not accusing anyone here).

Well....I had thought about it...
