Staying in the cabins but now am nervous...

I have our trip booked for FW Cabins for April. Today I sprained my foot. (We are waiting on the next set of xrays to make sure its not actually broken. It is a repeat injury and Dr has suggested surgery if its not healing right.) My dd(5) has her heart set on staying at FW. She wants to do the pony ride & see the animals etc.

Will I be able to do it? If I really can't handle staying in the cabins is there anyway to change where we are staying while we are there?

(nerves & pain meds NOT a good combination!!):scared:

If your daughter likes animals maybe AKL might be better. We just came back from FW and my 16 yr old was in a wheelchair because of impending surgery and it was a chore getting him around. I dont regret doing it and we enjoy the cabins and FW. If you stay there ask for a Cabin close to the bus stops and explain why. Also WL is a good choice.

If you are driving then the cabins are an excellent choice. You will be able to park your car right out front...up three little steps and you are there!!! With all the other hotels you are going to have to get from your room to the transportion which is going to involve a lot of walking.

I agree with FLPrincess Mom, it's going to be way more convenient at the cabins then at a resort. Less stairs. And when you want to get some fresh air you can sit outside and put your foot up. Just try to get some strength back in it before you go, if they decide not to do the surgery. Make sure you have good walking shoes, and if needed a brace or splint/tensor wrap, whatever you'll need to endure the parks. I'd stay with the FW plans. Good luck!

First of all, I hope your ankle heals well and quickly. :) Secondly, I can't imagine a better place to stay in terms of walking than FW. If you aren't driving yourself (and even if you are), get a golf cart. They are a bit pricey but so worth it in my opinion. We do a golf cart every year at FW and it is fun in itself. You can tool around in that and park right by the bus stops, the horse stable, the marina etc. At places like AKL, there is a LOT of walking to do just to get to your room. My kids stayed there once with their dad and couldn't believe how far it was to their room from the lobby.

Anyway, heal quickly and don't worry. If you might want a golf cart though, reserve it NOW. you can always cancel and they do run out.

i would stay if i were driving but no other way it's the best place to stay if you have a leg or something broken not many steps to get up to the room.:cool1:
