We've paid cash at check in at DL Hotel for Club access when staying at the hotel on points. Anyone know if we can do the same at the VGC? Thanks.

No, the only DVC with concierge access is AKV and that is limited to the five two bedroom lockoffs on the sixth floor of Jambo House which happens to be the same floor as the concierge lounge. So those are concierge villas.

We just got back from Disneyland, staying at the Grand California and were able to get club level access. We stayed on points in a 1 bedroom Villa and paid $115 a night for access to the Club lounge. It was a bit of a walk from the villa, but worth it for our family of 4.

Club access includes breakfast(fruit, juices, pastries, oatmeal, cereal, yogurt), tea in the afternoon including 3 types of finger sandwiches, veggies, scones, chocolate covered strawberries, and if I remember right, a couple of desserts and snack offerings like goldfish crackers. In the evenings they serve wine and beer and have a cheese platter, veggies, a hot appetizer, desserts. After that they have cordials and cookies while a storyteller or singer come up to entertain. Water, soda, coffee, and tea and apple juice are available all day. You can pick up bottles of water to take with you into the parks. I'm sure I have forgotten something. I know there is a thread on the Disneyland board that shows pictures and covers the concierge offerings at all 3 resort hotels.

The concierge lounge is on the 6th floor of the hotel section.

The price seems high for what you get.

To each their own, but we found it to be a good value because of the convenience factor. We have a 3 year old and a 1 month old, so being able to go to the concierge lounge for breakfast, snacks and a dinner of appetizers for the toddler, was easy and quick.

They have simple snacks like pretzels and goldfish crackers available all day and I think my kid ate her weight in uncrustables. We also enjoyed taking some adult beverages back to our balcony for relaxing in the evenings.

We did lots of pool time with short park visits on this trip, so we made good use of the lounge.

I appreciate you posting an update that you could upgrade with cash. It might be something we would consider if we were every booked in a studio. If we are are staying in the hotel rooms we normally do PPH concierge. We were lucky on one trip to be upgraded to GCH concierge when there was an issue with the PPH lounge.

Hi, thanks for posting about your experience. Were you able to receive other concierge benefits, such as daily housekeeping and itinerary planning?

Thanks. Always love to learn these new things. Yes it is a bit costly, but everytime we stayed concierge level prior to DVC it was pricey. It would be tempting for us if staying in a studio. I love everything about VGC and have never stayed club level and would love to give it a try. This is seems like a great way to do that!

Is this something you can do at all DVC hotels....just wondering. Not so sure if it may be worth it for our family, just never knew this may be an option?

We didn't have daily housekeeping this trip, probably because we weren't staying on the club floor, but only had key card access to the lounge. When we stayed on points at DL hotel & upgraded to the club level, we did have daily housekeeping.
I've never used itinerary planning for DL, so I can't answer that.

Agree.

I don't mind splurging from time-to-time but that's a bit much for me. We recently returned from VGC and fed 8 people for 5 nights on $200 worth of groceries. That grocery tab included all of the beverages and snacks we ate for the week, all breakfasts, most lunches (lots of Uncrustables for the kids) and three pretty substantial dinners.

Sounds like it would have been around $1100-1200 for our group for concierge access. I'm all for a little pampering but I don't think I could pay 5-6x as much just to have Disney pre-thaw the Uncrustables for us. ;)

I'm not sure how it works at the Grand villas on points, but at DLH on points (which we've done), when we stayed in the normal hotel on points, and at all 3 Disneyland Resorts at least while paying cash, you get itinerary planning for ANY room you book. Concierge might get you a higher level (not sure, didn't use it when staying at DLH and PPH C level), but you do get itinerary planning just as part of staying onsite at DLR. (unless it's specifically not allowed at the villas on points)

It would be too high for us, too. It all depends on how many are in your party and *what you eat*. There are just the 3 of us, and we are vegetarian, and in a week at PPH we had ONE night where we could touch the hot appetizer. We have to be careful with ingredients, and Uncrustables are absolutely forbidden for DS and DH, thanks to the colors, corn syrup, and HFCS in them. Leaves us with fruit, *some* desserts, chips, and water, pretty much. Oh and coffee for me. :)

Having concierge also means that you need to *be there* to take advantage. We like being in the parks too much to be constantly going back for the lounge. So we have to be getting a real deal on it, for it to be worth it to us!

It really depends on what your family is like!

On our last trip the hot appetizer was something that dh could not eat due to his egg allergy. We were shocked when they ordered him up a special appetizer just for him! In all of our stays at PPH concierge, we never knew that they would do something like this. It might be worth checking into for your next stay.

I would probably consider it if staying in a studio where cooking would be very limited. If it is the same $115per day for 8 people staying in a 2br, that might not be an bad deal. That is less than $14.50 per day per person. I wonder if the price depends on the number of people staying in the villa per day or if it is just a flat villa rate no matter how big the villa and the number of guests.
