Staying concierge for the 1st time...need info

Hi,

We'll be staying in concierge @ AKL this fall and, being a 1st timer, I'm not necessarily sure what to expect of the services. I know they will assist with things like priority seating & that we can get turn down service, etc. but I'm wondering what other helpful services go along with concierge that would help make our stay more enjoyable.

Sorry for such a silly question but I really just don't know what to expect. Thanks for indulging a concierge newbie.

I would check on the Lizard Lounge thread and the Animal Kingdom thread which is on the resort Facts at the top of the Disney resorts page.. See if you can get the phone # for the IPO or their e-mail address. They will help you with your P.S. and any other plans you may have.

I did try to get through some of the lounge lizard thread but, in going backward through it, most of the posts seemed to be off topic (people discussing their kids medical conditions unrelated to WDW).

I have the very same question, except we are staying at the Dolphin concierge. I have no idea what to expect, and I've also posted on the lizard lounge thread. Can anyone fill us in on what to expect? Do they do special things? My 2 DS's are celebrating birthdays while there?

The Lounge Lizards have been around so long they have developed personal friendships but I guarantee you that if you post a question...like your OP they will be able to provide all the information you need...alas I have only stayed concierge once at Wilderness lodge, but the LL realy know their business and are always happy to assist.

Nik's Mom I would post any question you may have over on the SIGMA-DELTA Sorority (THE "LuvYa, MeanIt!" Thread for the Swan & Dolphin Resorts!) Just click on the link it will take you there...many personal friends over on this thread also, but just jump in and ask away...They all love the Swan & Dolphin and sharing their knowledge.

We've got ressies for AKL Concierge in December (again), and depending on what you're wanting to do, and how much you want to spend.........

I highly recommend the Sunrise Safari, which runs on Tuesdays and Saturdays. It is only available to Concierge guests, and costs about $50 per person. It is an early morning tour, behind the scenes at Kilimanjaro Safari. We've done it a couple of times, and really enjoyed it. The safari ends with a breakfast buffet at Tusker House.

If you're into a one of a kind experience, the Wanyama Safari is done ON AKL savannahs in the evenings, also 2 times a week- depending on volume. We did this last December, and it was topped off with a 'family' style dinner at Jiko, including wine. This one costs $150 per person, no children under 16- I believe.

I recommended AKL to a co-worker who went to Disney last week, and they really enjoyed it. They didn't do Concierge- but they had a great time regardless.

I would contact you AKL concierge by e-mail soon as possible and let them know what you need as far as ps's and such.
We had Jack Soll as our itinerary planner and he went out of his way to make our trip magical. He helped plan several surprises for me dbf's birthday. He got all our ps's and even noted our preferences in seating. He also noted it was dbf's birthday and he got special treatment at many places. He even ran around and picked up a gift for my dbf that I wanted to surprise him with.
