Staying at Riverside : Show me pics, get me excited!!

Are there accessible rooms in the mansion buildings? i havent stay at POR since it was dixie landings!! we usually stay at FT wilderness but are staying at POR in 2012[/QUOTE

I would like to know the answer to this question as well as we will be there 12/28/2011 - 01/11/2012 and we need a room that is wheel chair accessible and I would liekt o stay in the mansion buildings because they are the reason we picked this resort because we are coming to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we love the romantic look and feel of the mansion building side. We would be greatly dissapointed to have to stay on the AB side of the resort as it doesn't scream romantic celebration to us at all. So I guess if they do not have accessible rooms on the mansion side we will have to change our ressies to another resort as we are just not prepared to spend the kind of money we are spending to come that far during the busy season for 2 weeks to celebrate our anniversary on New Years Day only to find out that the rooms they have on the mansion side won't do because of what is needed.
I sure hope someone has the answer to this here:goodvibes

Loving your pictures with that wider lens Mike. I've just purchased a Sigma 10-20mm for my Canon EOS 7D and plan to see what I can get around Port Orleans with it in August.

Thanks Andre. I first rented it back a few years ago for a Disneyland trip and I'm hooked. Can't wait to see your shots!

About the accessible rooms, I would assume there would be some in the Mansions as well. Alligator Bayou has no elevators, therefore there can only be accessible rooms on the first floor. I know at the values, there are a few accessible rooms on every floor in most buildings, so I can only assume that it would be the same at the mods. I've just never seen the room layout, but I have for the values.

Correct, the AB accessible rooms are all on the ground floor (as you say, no elevators) but the mansion buildings have them on all floors, located near to the elevators.

We took our first trip ever about six months ago (I'm getting the itch to go back already), but we LOVE LOVE LOVED Riverside. It was perfect for our family. It was kind of nice to go back to the resort that wasn't totally saturated with Disney, kwim? After being at a park all day, the quiet resort was just what we needed, really. I can totally understand why so many people love this resort.

are the mansion rooms the same pricing as the AB rooms??? I cant wait until August to book for 2012!!! sooo hoping for free dining for our week!!!

Yes they are. Although you can't specify for certain which section your room will be in, you can still make requests. The only way to guarantee one or the other would be to book a Preferred Room (which would mean Alligator Bayou) or the new Royal Rooms when they become available (i.e. mansion buildings 90 & 95). Both are premium cost options though.

thanks for the info. I have not stayed there since 1997 when it was dixie landings. we have been staying at FT wilderness, but this time its just 3 of us and the cabins are too costly for just 3 of us. i have always loved the grounds at POR so here we come !!! ( aug 2012 :( such a long wait)

One of the nicest things about staying at POR is breakfast at Boatwright's!

I loved the create-your-own-salad station at Riverside Mill, but I don't have any pictures of it.

is the stuffed toast still there? it's the same as the tonga toast in the Poly?!?!?

Worse, breakfasts aren't there any more. :( Boatwright's stopped doing breakfast in Feb 2009. I think you can get the same toast at The Wave at the Contemporary though, according to a cast member there.

Now you've made me look at those lovely food photos again and I'm hungry...
