Have any women on the Dis stayed solo at the All Stars?

I'm thinking of a solo trip in late October or early November. We have only stayed at the Riverside and feel completely safe there. I do not want to spend the extra money for a moderate hotel as I can save the extra money for a trip in May 2003 to Universal and Disney.

Is the All Stars safe for woman on a solo trip? Also what All Stars building would you suggest?

I'd like to hear from solo women who have stayed at the All Stars.

Thanks.

I've stayed at both ASMo and ASMu and have felt completely safe. One time I went with my niece who is 16yo (and it was like being alone) and the other time I went with my 70yo Mom and we both felt completely safe. I stayed at Calypso building in ASMu (which is the closest to the food court/check in building) and at Fantasia in ASMo which is almost exactly the same location as in ASMu. I am going solo this summer and staying at CBR but only because I got one of the coveted hotel discount from Disney, my original plan was to stay at either ASMu or ASMo. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at either one. I always got good service and the food was OK. I believe the bus service is one of its better features. I even went on an E-Nite last summer and we never felt apprehensive of walking back to our room. There is almost always someone in the pools even very late at night so it never seems deserted. Have fun!

I stayed at ASMu solo last January because I was "displaced" from POR. Expected to like it because DS is a Jazz major and I was in the Jazz section. I felt perfectly safe there, however I really missed POR. That's where I'm headed next time I'm solo, not because of safety, just so much more enjoyable to me.

Unless you love All-stars I would commit to a budgeted amount for my stay and see if I could get a room for that amount at a location I enjoy. For example a sale might come up for the Swan/Dolphin or you might a member of profession that gets discounts there. Or if you have a Disney Club card something might come along on that.

I always stay ALONE at All Star Sports! I request a building close to the food court, and have No problems!;) :D

I stayed solo at All Star Sports a couple of weeks ago. A few days before I was due to arrive, I faxed over my room request including a note that I was travelling alone and arriving after midnight, so I would really appreciate a room as close to stadium hall as possible. They accomodated my request. The only time I was there that I even had a stray thought about my safety was in relation to the door connecting my room to the one next to it.

I've done 2 solo trips in the past year and stayed at ASMu both times. The first time I was 3rd floor Jazz and last time was 3rd floor Broadway. Felt completely safe both times, but Jazz is closer to everything so you could put in a request for a room there!! Will be trying out Sports next week. Was going to be a solo trip, but my friend found out she could finally afford it!! Hooray!! :smooth:

I have stayed solo at all three all stars. About four days before my arrival I call the hotel directly and ask for the room assigner. I tell him/her who I am and they look up my reservation. I explain that I am traveling solo and would like to request the absolute closest room possible to the food court/front of the resort, tell them that I am uneasy walking solo at night to the back of the resort, etc. They have always been extremely helpful, the last time, at All Star Music, I was the third room from the corner right at the food court! I request a first floor room, so I won't need to use the elevator, and tell them I don't want a room in the back, but one that faces the front/pool, etc. I have always gotten a close room this way.

I stayed at Music in September with a friend. We had rented a car and had been out of the World that day. I left something in the car and went to get it. My friend was sleeping, it was 1:30am, and I went to the car with NO fear at all, got what I was looking for, and went back to my room.

I am always walking around the hotel area in the middle of the night and have never seen or heard anything to make me afraid.

Whenever this topic comes up I see statements that imply people feel safe at Disney...I almost get the feeling they feel safer there than walking around the outside of their own homes at night. Please don't be naive. Crime DOES take place at Disney. If you monitored the Orlando Sentinel you would see it...murder, suicide, kidnapping, robbery. Haven't seen any rapes yet but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened. Keep in mind that Disney does have a vested interest in squashing events like these because a rash of them could hurt their bottom line.

I AM NOT saying this to say you should be afraid. I am saying this to say you should stay alert and use care. The odds of anything happening are low...but they aren't non-existent.

As a female solo traveler, I totally agree with Doubletrouble_vb. I feel safe alone at WDW, but I'm always cautious when walking around at night. If you use common sense and are careful (not paranoid!) ;) you should be fine at any Disney resort. I just love my solo trips! Have fun! :D

Yes it is true crime does happen at Disney but it is also true Disney has a lot more security in and around their parks and resorts than resorts off site do.

Well I'll have to start requesting those rooms. Last time they put DS and me waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay in the back at AS Mu. It was practically in the woods. I didn't like it at all. I figured they put us there because we were only there for one night finishing up a pass.
