We currently have a FD package reservation from 2/26-3/5 at ASMuFS. Looked at the new options today and if I book a room-only reservation for 2/26 at ASMovie and switch my current reservation to 2/27-3/5, I would save about $225. Is it worth the hassle of switching from ASMovie to ASMu? Also, if I did this, what time would I be able to pick up my park tickets on 2/27? Would there be a holding place for our luggage at ASMu while we are in the parks on 2/27 and until we can check into our room?

I would probably do it. That would give you more play money. :)

You can even pick up your tickets on the day before when you check in with your room only reservation.

"I. Picking up Package Tickets Prior To Start Of Package

In cases where Walt Disney World Resort Guests would like to begin using their Package Tickets prior to the day of check-in (up to three days in advance), the Guests will be directed to visit any Theme Park Guest Relations location and request Early Ticket Pick-Up.

It is only valid for people with packages at a Walt Disney World owned and operated Resort. You can be staying off-property at the time you pick up the tickets. Note that if you have a package which includes Dining, although you can pick up your tickets early you cannot get access to the Dining until you have actually checked in to your Resort.

There is a possibility that if your package and the stay prior to the package are at the same Resort that you will be able to get the tickets at the Resort and not have to go to a Park Guest Relations Office.

And the tickets issued will be valid for the entire stay; they will not receive valid tickets when they actually check-in to their resort. There is a strong possibility that the tickets you have received prior to check-in cannot be added to your KTTW on or after check-in."

Quoted from Cheshire Figment's sticky note about tickets on the Theme Park forum. Here is the link...

And I know the front desk will have a place to leave your bags for the day. We have left our bags several times when we got the resort before our room was ready and wanted to go to the parks in the meantime.

Also, I have read that Bell Services will move your luggage for you. I've never had to do it myself, but asking about it on a new thread in Resorts would probably get you lots of feedback on it!

Here is a thread about moving bags with a split stay... http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2610233&highlight=moving+rooms

Happy Planning!

Plus keep checking back... the discount may open up again at ASMu. It all depends on the bookings and the cancellations. Good luck!

Are you including the dining plan in your new quote? Your savings looks like one kid's ticket cost, which is what it would be if you also removed dining from your reservation. You would have to pay for dining for all of you if you switched. I just wanted to make sure you were including that in your calculation.

We have 2 kids and the FD was still a better deal for us. But we missed the booking deadline. So we booked this morning the new deal.

raider97--I didn't realize that I could pick up my park tickets early!!!

Just so I am understanding you correctly, when I arrive on 2/26 for my room-only reservation, I can pick up my park tickets for my 2/27-3/5 stay?!?!? Probably showing my ignorance a little too much here, but I was only going to do a 7 day hopper but could I change it to a 8 day hopper and start using the tickets on 2/26 when I arrive?

Again, sorry, but I am clueless about this stuff. TIA!!!

Yep, the way I read it you could. If you want to go to the thread about the tickets and pm Cheshire Figment about it. The only downside is it looks like your tickets wouldn't be on your KTTW card. You would have your key for your room and the dining packake and then another ticket with your tickets on it. It wouldn't bother me, but I know some people just prefer one card. :)

Also, you can always add days to your ticket when you get there, if you want to wait and see how you feel on your arrival day. Park hopper also doesn't have to be added beforehand either. You can always add park hopper for the same price if you get there and decide you want it.

I just learned about this last year. There is always new info here on dis... just keep poking around. :)
