Our son and his brand new wife followed all of the rules and were quarantined despite negative results. Aulani did nothing. Stay Away. They were allowed on to get on the airplane and leave. Honeymoon will not be ruined because of who they are. Disney was terrible. Don’t risk it.

Was test approved by state of Hawaii and did they upload results in safe travel website. I’m sorry this happened to them but if they didn’t it’s out of Aulani’s control. Still a horrible experience so I’m sorry.

Did they follow all the guidelines listed for travel to Hawaii? Fill out every form, get tested correctly and have results at correct type of facility and register travel as listed on website? Disney can’t be blamed when they have to follow what state of Hawaii mandates.

I'm sorry that happened to your son and his wife. However, I don't see how this is the fault of Aulani. Hawaii has some pretty clearly defined pre-requisites for traveling. That is the risk people take in choosing to travel right now.

The state is in an unenviable position right now; their economy is reliant on tourism, but we're in a pandemic and the entire state only has 244 ICU beds. Being lax on restrictions can lead to increased infection rates, which could be catastrophic to their local hospital system.

I'm sorry that happened! Glad they didn't let it ruin their honeymoon. :(

Hope the OP will provide more info on just what happened.

Certainly a terrible thing to have a honeymoon ruined. It would be good to know just why so others can avoid similar situations.

They used an approved tester. They also used safe travels site. I am not sure as it happened today. I think one test did not come through until they landed.

Aulani refused to give them even a bottle of water. Disgusting. They did everything they were told to do. I would very strongly suggest that everyone avoid Hawaii until things change.

Thanks for your support. They followed the instructions that were given to them. They used a required tester and followed the 72 hour guideline.

It is important to note that both tests were negative. We talked for a moment. My son said that it was impossible to follow the guidelines as given.

From the hawaii covid requirements:
All travelers must have a negative test result BEFORE beginning the final leg of their trip. Anyone without a negative test result PRIOR to departure must quarantine upon arrival.
The negative test result must be uploaded onto Safe Travels prior to departure or printed out prior to departure and hard copy in hand when arriving in Hawai‘i.

Sorry this happened to them but Hawaii is pretty firm on rules and hotels must comply.

Thanks for your compassion.

That is COMPLETELY out of Aulani's control. That is a State covid rule and it has nothing to do with Aulani. It's not a fun thing to happen, but your outrage at Disney is misplaced. Your adult children should have been aware of the rules. The State website clearly states that if you don't have your results before your flight leaves, then you will have mandatory quarantine. They should never have got on the plane without their results. If they didn't know this then shame on them for not doing their research. And if they knew but were willing to risk it, then that is what happens. No need to blame Disney, or anyone else, for your son's and daughter's mistake.

So there is no hope for a multiple leg trip. I

With the 72 hr. time limit it can be difficult and soooo stressful for travelers to comply with the ever changing rules. I'm so sorry this happened to them. Where did they fly from? On tripadvisor there are many reports of people going to the airport in hopes of results coming prior to takeoff only to go back home and not get on the plane.

What do you mean by "no hope". Other's have had this happen where they did not get their results in time. What you do is not get on the last leg of your trip and wait until you get your results. The airlines are working with people on this.

Absolutely! We had a Hawaii trip booked, but later cancelled it due to concerns about the testing requirement. What you described is the exact scenario we wanted to avoid. We're going to Disney's Hilton Head resort in South Carolina, instead. Hawaii? Maybe in 2 or 3 years, when they really want travelers there.

they want the travelers but unlike other states that can easily get more medical support and transfer patients out if the hospitals close Hawaii can’t. They have to do what they can to protect themselves since it’s an island with limited supplies and networks.

Exactly. That's why they don't really want travelers there. I didn't say they had no valid reason for their restrictions, but the fact remains that Hawaii is currently the most traveler-unfriendly state in America right now, and many Hawaiians have made it abundantly clear that they do not want tourists around at this time.

So they made it from the airport to Aulani and then left because of the quarantine requirement?
