Stateroom TV Question

Check the FAQ for prohibited items on DCL’s site; I believe they are not allowed and subject to confiscation.
Well, it used to say that such things were not allowed, due to incompatibility with the TVs. It's not there anymore. Don't really think that means you can take them now, though.

The rules have been changed to limit only :

‘Streaming Devices (Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire Stick, Google Chromecast, etc.)’

The previous version, that mentioned consoles, was probably creating confusion for handheld devices like Nintendo DS and Switch. I’m pretty sure there was/is a sticker at the back of the TV that mentioned that you could not connect anything to the ports.

Ahh. I would believe it would be covered by etc. OP - if you really feel the need, may want to call and confirm.

Don't waste your money on a cruise if you want to be hanging out in your stateroom playing xbox.
Really? No one is supposed to hang out in the stateroom and relax at any point during their cruise? Some people chill out with a video game, others with a book, others with Disney On Demand on the stateroom TV. Nothing wrong with that at all. A cruise without relaxation isn't much of a cruise.

Particularly on the longer cruises. The On Demand is great...of course I didn't realize it was free until the last night. 🙃

I’m of the same opinion. The beauty of a cruise is that you can tailor your experience to your liking. Run from one activity to the next or chill during the entire week. Go to the pool and beach or do not bring a swimsuit at all.

I get people that say ‘don’t pay extra for anything above an inside since you’re only there to sleep’ but that is not true at all for us. In fact, in the Caribbean, we pay a lot more to get a 1BR since we spend a lot of time on our verandah and in the living room. After 11 cruises on DCL, we know what we are giving up when we choose to be there instead of walking around Nassau or the ship.

The same can be said of a WDW vacation, especially if you’ve been as often as us. We don’t feel the need to rope drop every day or stay until 1AM if we don’t feel like it.

Nothing wrong with relaxing in the stateroom, or on your verandah, or even going to Edge/Vibe to play video games. Just expressing my personal opinion that bringing a game console for your stateroom takes away from the ambiance of relaxing on a cruise.
