Stateroom fridge question

My kids have these slushie cups that you would (at home) put in the freezer and the insulation in the cup gets cold enough that, when you add a liquid, you get a slushie. I had thought to bring these with us (since people talk about bringing their own cups) for some fun drinks. Would they even get cold enough in the stateroom fridge?

Maybe. But I wouldn't count on it. We've had fridges that created ice crystals in the soda we put in there. But they're just fridges, not freezers.

I believe the old phrasing was a "cooling box" or something like that. It's a pretty accurate description-items are kept cool but not a traditional mini fridge with freezer on top.

Just a reminder, Dream and Fantasy have two cabins aboard that have freezers, also microwaves fwiw.

The cooling boxes were on the Magic and Wonder. They were basically that, an insulated box that kept things cooler than the ambient air. When the Dream and Fantasy entered service the rooms had actual refrigerators. Yes, they don't have a freezer section, but they are fridges. The cooling boxes on the Magic were replaced during her re-imagining dry dock. And the ones on the Wonder were replaced prior to her 2015 Alaska season.

Yeah, I don't think the standard fridge will cut it. And given their size, even if they did have a freezer section, it'd be super-small and not able to accommodate a mug.

You might have more success getting a few extra ice buckets and immersing the mugs in a bucketful of ice overnight.

I was in 2130 on the EBTA last month and that was still an old mini-bar chill box, not yet replaced by a true refrigerator.
