What side of the ferry should we sit on to get good pics of Statue of Liberty?

I know you didn't ask, but I thought I would throw this out there. You can get a closer view from some of the tour boats. We did a speedboat tour that was only 30 minutes long. We got pretty close to the Statue of Liberty. And the staff on the boat walked around and took pictures of each family with our own cameras. It was so much fun.
We did the Shark Speedboat tour. It was $24 for adults. http://www.nywatertaxi.com/tours/shark

No matter what you decide, have a great trip!:)

You can't beat the price of the SI ferry though.

Not to overstate the obvious, but you can walk all around on SIF to see all around. It's a good sized boat, you don't need to sit/stay in one place.

I'd try to get a spot near the back when you're leaving Manhattan- not alot of room there but it's a great water view of lower Manhattan.

Then move up to the sides to see SoL.

We're doing the SIF too, this July. DD6 wants to see the Statue of Liberty for her 7th birthday, but we decided not to actually go to Liberty Island. Rather than just take 2 back-to-back boat rides though, I decided to take them to the Staten Island Zoo for a few hours. Quick bus ride from the ferry terminal, and we get to add a little more excitement for her birthday!

I agree with this. Walk around to see all the views. Don't bother sitting inside, the only people who seemed to be sitting inside were obvious commuters who seemed bored with the views. ;)

How much does it cost to park at the St George Terminal for the Staten Island Ferry on Staten Island for the entire day?
