Starwood/Amex Reservation

I have two nights booked at the Swan (in between DVC stays) I paid my deposit last October but recently applied for and received my Starwood Platinum Amex card. I was wondering, should I call and inquire about having my original credit card credited for the deposit and have them charge my Amex card instead? Would I get more points this way? I know that having "gold" status for the Starwood program earns 3 points for every dollar charged at the resort. But, I'm not sure if this applies to deposits. This is my first reservation using the rewards program. I could kick myself for not looking into it before because my dh had a conference at the Swan a few years ago and he could've racked up some serious points! Thanks for any info. you experts can provide.

did they actually charge your card yet sometimes hotels wait until check-in. anyways you will get points from swan for that stay however if you pay with starwoods am. express you also get 1 point per dollar. I would try and change the credit card just to get those extra points

Yes - they already charged it. I will call the hotel directly and just ask. The worst thing they could say is no!
