Starting visit at DL on Saturday afternoon in July?

I really appreciate the help everyone! I've used TP to create a plan for each day and am not being very successful at getting rid of some very long wait times. We'll be starting on Saturday eating at Red Rose Tavern hopefully by noon followed by meeting Tinker Bell. This is the only time that meets with our schedule. TP gave me the order of when to pick up LLs which is good but I didn't see that on other days. Will be doing the parade on Monday as part of a tour my daughter is interested in

On Sunday, we'll be rope dropping DCA since we'll be on east coast time. I added 9 attractions to the plan and got 64 minute wait for Radiator Springs Racers. I tried Radiators Springs Racers again for my Tuesday schedule and it's 90 min on that morning. For Tuesday, the plan optimized Web Slingers and Gaurdians of the Galaxy before Radiator Springs. Has anyone been successful getting a shorter wait for Radiators Springs?

On Monday morning, we have a 10am breakfast at Napa Rose. I was trying to avoid going to a park before that but there are some key attractions at DL that I missed on our first day plan. How long does it take to walk from with Jungle Cruise to Napa Rose?

Rogers: The Musical is a priority for Tuesday on the same day with Web Slingers, Guardians, Radiator Springs Racers again, Spider Man Show and Warriors of Wakanda show. DD20 is a theater major so shows it is!

Wednesday will only be a half day at DL. At 7:30, the plan gave me a 39 minutes wait for Millenium Falcon and 69 minutes for Star Wars Rise of the Resistance.

I'm losing a Disney night to a Angel's baseball game so feeling like I didn't leave enough time for the newer attractions that were not there when we last came in 2014.

The Touring Plans itineraries are known to not be great when it comes to the DLR.
Their Lines app is pretty good if you are looking for actual wait times on your visiting dates.

We are huge Star Wars fans and were disappointed with Oga’s. We feel it misses the point of what makes a Star Wars cantina so awesome (the aliens). Also the Blue Milk is much better outside at the stand. If you really want to see it try to do a walk up earlier in the day. I wouldn’t miss fireworks for it.
totally agree with you.. When we went in Jan 2023 we were super excited to check it out but left with a meh kind of feeling. Dont get me wrong, I liked the details and atmosphere but it really wasnt what I was expecting based on the movies. We are going back in Jan 2024 with another family member but I dont think we will visit Oga;s.

I agree with both preceding posters that Oga's maybe isn't quite as exciting as one would hope, but it's fun, so I hope the OP does go, perhaps as a walk-up as DLgal suggested.

I just don't think Touring Plans is going to be all that helpful at DL. These days, rides go down often, and it affects the rest of the park and then the standby lines and LL returns for those rides. Ride wait times ebb and flow throughout the day. You can look at Start Tours with a 45 minute wait, then an hour later it's 15 minutes, then an hour later it's 45 again. If RotR, Indy or Space Mountain are down, the wait times soar for whatever E-ticket rides are still running.

In general, wait times will be shorter in the morning, then rise throughout the day. LL return times will get pushed way out if it's very busy or rides go down.

RSR will be 60+ from one hour of opening until close (and on very busy days, 90+ or 120+). It will not go down.

Millenium Falcon is variable depending on whether or not RotR is open. When it's down, I've seen Millennium Falcon hit 120.

Rather than stressing over your Touring Plans itinerary, I feel like it would be better to make a list of must-do attractions, then stalk the Disneyland app in the weeks or days leading up to your trip to see what attraction wait times tend to look like at different times during the day. Then each time you enter the park, take a look and choose attractions that have lower waits than you know to be typical.

OP, as respectfully as I can manage to come across, relax.

You are really over thinking ALL of this.

Disneyland is easy. I swear. Don't stress about the exact minutes of all the wait times. Touring Plans is only correct about half the time. They are using math and statistics, that's all. They are not always right.

We were at DCA on July 4. Radiator Springs Racers was a 35-45 minute wait for much of the day. NOTHING was over 45 minutes at DCA in the 7 ish hours we were there. Touring Plans was not expecting that.

As mentioned above, make a list of your must dos and just make sure you are taking the time to actually enjoy being at the Happiest Place on Earth. You don't need to plan and execute this like a military operation.

Thanks for the clarification! I'll stick with TP to try to come up with a plan. Is the TP app more reliable for showing actual waiting times?
TP is completely unreliable and unnecessary for Dland. For WDW I get why it can be helpful, but with ride closures and just the unpredictability of crowds it is useless at Dland. As Dlgal said as respectfully as possible I urge you to please throw out that TP and stay off the site. You will drive yourself crazy and honestly none of it will go accordingly. Even our afternoon’s of “lets just go on Big Thunder and catch the parade” don’t go exactly as I envision it. ;)

The advise on this board that I will reiterate is: pick your top few priorities each day (note I said few, spread them out, don’t try and conquer everything in one day), book your G+ LL for those attractions, and fill in as necessary.

So much less planning and stress in a Dland day…
If you are rope dropping plan your morning and then be flexible based on what you see throughout the day. We can provide advice for some things that are common, but over planning the day is a recipe for disaster at DLR.
This. This. This. This. This.

We do late arrival days often. If using G+ my suggestion would be to either book your top priority ride and use the modify feature to potentially bump it earlier, or book whatever has the earliest return time to be able to then get another LL. NOTE: after 12:00 Indiana and Space are often showing late evening times so I would choose other rides in this instance.

If not using G+ I would do Tink, then a ride or 2 that don’t have LL such as Tiki Room, Jungle Cruise or Pirates - can’t go wrong with a classic. Or head to Fantasyland and wait for Dumbo. :) I would use this time to soak up the atmosphere are revel that YOU ARE HERE!!!

The only way for a short wait on Racer’s is $LL. Personally I would skip G+ on Saturday and instead pay for the $LL for Racers. Then you can repeat using Single Rider if your group is old enough. The morning hours at DCA are great for riding Incredicoaster (often back to back) and either Guardians or Webslingers with minimal wait. We always do Incredicoaster in the am standby so we can book a G+ for at night when we prefer it.

Are you doing the princess breakfast? If not I would consider cancelling this for a QS breakfast. This seems like an awful time suck. If it is the princess breakfast I would plan to scan in to either park (assuming you have hoppers) so you can book a G+ LL immediately and another while you dine.

Jungle Cruise has lower waits at night as well. Again I think this is a good one for your arrival afternoon/night as it doesn’t have G+.

You may consider the reserved package for Rogers if this is a priority - I haven’t experienced it yet so can’t comment on ease otherwise but others may have feedback. The Spider-Man show and Wakanda are easy to catch during the day. No need to plan. I would also try and catch the Dr. Strange show - its a fave in our house.

Rise is always long, and breaks down often. For this reason we only do ROTR when we pay for LL (only took one instance of getting stuck in the standby line about to board and it broke down meaning a 2+ hr wait for that to happen.) Falcon has a single rider line that will allow you to go in as pairs. Again with G+ Falcon is an easy LL to get at the time you want.
I'm losing a Disney night to an Angel's baseball game so feeling like I didn't leave enough time for the newer attractions that were not there when we last came in 2014.
What are your priorities, then? If you are a repeat WDW visitor you can definitely skip some of the duplicates.

Again, HTH - it really does not need to be complicated. Set those priorities and expectations and you will have a great time.

Thanks, everyone!! I definitely find it easier having a plan. While I wasted time this weekend, I know what attractions are important for my daughter. We do have G+ every day and I do plan on paying for LL. Winging it will definitely be a first for me! We do enjoy some of the classics. We arrive on Saturday so I don't have a ton of time to play with the app. I'll figure it out for sure. I appreciate all the responses and ideas. OH, I'm not good on simulators. I can handle some but others bother me. I am fine with Soarin and was ok with Flight of Passage in Orlando. I almost backed out of that one last minute.

I'll let everyone know how things go next week. We head to San Diego Comic Con afterwards to it will be a while before I check in.

Thanks!

Hello again! One more question. Is the Lines App the one I should be checking for actual waits while using the Disney app to secure the LL?

No. As we have said: the apps aren’t relevant. Neither are always correct.

There are no wait times for LL, just return times. You have an hour window to return and redeem.

If you are basing your plan around projected wait times you are going to be zigging and zagging across the park, only to arrive and have the wait time changed. It’s a recipe for disaster.

Book your LL and fill in your time before its return with attractions in the area or close by. Do not base your plan on wait times.
