Jessa, Welcome to WISH!

It is wonderful that you are looking to help yourself to figure out a way to get that D-thing going.

I would recommend that you join in any of the challenge threads that are ongoing to get youself motivated to make better eating choices and begin to add in some exercise. The challenges and support are a wonderful part of WISH.

I would also recommend making sure you work at things in a small way to allow for success in many ways. Don't let yourself become overwhelmed with the task at hand.

There are many healthy eating choices that you can work at either in a formal way or by logging the foods you eat and trying to learn where you can make changes to things healthier. Try not to use that D-word. Go for positive choices.

Let us know how you are doing. WISHing you success and fun along the way.

Remember you've made this commitment to yourself. Start a WISH journal to be accountable to yourself. Whenever you feel down, read someone else's journal.

I would concentrate on just 1 or 2 things a week. Then next week, assess if you have the ability to add anything new. In 3 weeks, something can become a habit. For example, I started sitting down every Sunday and making a week exercise plan. My plan didn't always work out, but when my schedule got messed up, I immediately tried to rearrange my plan to still get something in. Also on each Sunday, I reviewed in my journal what I did get done, and assessed what I needed to increase as it was getting a little too easy. Also, I could catch what I was afraid to try, and try to challenge myself to try some new exercise classes. :yay: Be proud of just trying something new, even if you didn't like it... :yay:

Welcome!

First ... feel free to jump into any group that is started. There are several challenge groups & you can find some good motivation there.

Second ... keeping a food diary works for me. I am much more successful when I am keeping track of what I eat and am conscious of the calories I take in and the calories I expend.

Third ... take a look at some of the journals people keep. You can find inspiration there, too.

Are you in school? What kinds of things are you doing right now? What do you currently eat on a normal day? Are you tracking what you eat? Do you exercise? We could probably offer better suggestions if we knew a little more. At your age and only slightly overweight, you will probably be able to get healthy in no time with just a few minor changes to your eating and a little added exercise! :cheer2:
