HEY GUYS,NEVER BEEN TO STARS WARS WEEKEND BUT DH IS A HUGE FAN OF SW,SO CAN ANY TELL ME HOW GREAT IT IS,IF ITS WORTH GOING.WOULD LOVE TO SURPRISE HIM.
THANKX :earboy2: :earsgirl:

For the Star Wars fan, it's awesome. For those of us not quite as enthusiastic, it is a jam packed touring nightmare. My dh and ds(11) are huge Star Wars fans. Last year, we did the Star Wars Weekends for my son. We went 2 of the weekends. DS entered the trivia contests and anything else they had for children. He was asked to be in the parade, but he was too shy. This year, he will be going in costume. Also, this year, dh wants in on the activity. He plans to participate in the adult games. While they do that, I will be entertaining ds(11 months). The last time there was a movie release around the same time as the Star Wars weekend, they had a special theater (I think it was the animator's theater), where they showed the making of the movie. Since this year coincides with the release of the final movie, I'm sure there will be special things that aren't there during "normal" years.

It really is a lot of fun, if he's into Star Wars its a must see. The parade was great, there were lots of Star wars characters everywhere, they had real actors from the movie and a Star Wars version of WWTBAM: Play it. Just a good time all around. :teeth:

We are doing a Star Wars week. We will hopefully see the midnight show at AMC Pleasure Island and be there on Friday and Saturday for the first SWW. My stepson was born on the first day as the original movie and he is going with us to WDW for the very first time. My 14 year old daughter could not understand my Star Wars fixation until we went to Star Wars Weekend for the first time in 2002. She had a blast. Since then, she has become a Hayden Christensen fan (as are a lot of 14 year old females, I imagine) and she suggested the idea of going to WDW and making a week of it. Surprise him! You will have a blast. By the way, the list of SWW celebrities came out on April 2 last year. I've been checking daily for an announcement. Has any one heard anything?

Just Daniel Logan (young Boba) for the first weekend, but that was from his own website. I don't know if Celebration is throwing off the announcement this year. I'm hoping for a bigger name for the second guest!

My DW and I were there during the last star wars weekend in June last year. The crowds were not that bad. It was fun to see all of the characters.

We have gone several times and if you are a true fan you can devote the whole day to just SW stuff. I would pick the Sunday over the Friday or Saturday if you intend to do anything but SW. My son did the Jedi training. It was priceless. He really hammed it up.

thankx guys,I definatley will look into going now! It would be great 4him.

We went two years ago and it was packed! DD and DH waited in line for over an hour for Billy Dee Wiliams autograph. Lots of people brought "stuff" for the stars to sign and were disappointed when it was not allowed.

They changed it last year again so that items COULD be signed. There was a little baby who had his padawan robes signed by every celebrity. You can see his picture on starwars.com

I would love to pass along a special story about our trip last year,

We took our Autistic (then) 4 year old son (who is the biggest Star Wars fan - he hums Darth Vaders theme music) and our (then) 1 1/2 year old son. I planned our trip with the Star Wars weekend as the highlight of our trip and it was!

When we got there, there were Storm Troopers on top of the ticket sales counters with music and skits piped in. My son stopped dead in his tracks. He tugged on my shirt and looked up at me with the largest grin I have ever seen on his face. He was jumping up and down and flapping his hands (an autistic trait). My eyes were filled with tears. We tried to move past the gates, but he was content in staying there.
Finally after prying him away, we went to find Jedi Mickey, we were lucky that we were one of the first in line! Mickey had hugs all around and my son was more than willing. The best part of the day came at the parade. My son's favorite character is Jango Fett. While all of the character were passing by, my son saw in the distance, Jango coming up. He was jumping up and down and flapping his hands a mile a minute. We were in the front, with no one in front of us, so I was afraid that my son was going to run over to him, but he stayed with us. As Jango approached, he saw my son, stopped and turned towards him and gave him a nod with his head and gun, that alone would have been the world to my son but he then walked over (he was on the other side of the parade) and shook my sons hand. Even now thinking about what a sweet gesture that was, and how it was everything to my son, overwhelms me. My husband was snapping away with the camera up until then but stopped when he saw Jango approach, he too was startled that this person was going out of their way. Words cannot express what a moment that was for our son. The whole day we have never seen him, so connected to us and what was going on around him.
We later found Jango on one of the backlot streets having pictures taken with fans, while my son was having his picture taken I asked if he was the one in the parade, he nodded his head and I thanked him for his special act. I told him that while he may not have thought much about what he did, that it was an extrordinary moment for our son and how grateful we were.
To this day when we look at our album, my son will point at the picture, smile a big smile and say "Jango" and I know exactly what he means....

What a wonderful story! :wizard: It brought tears to my eyes.
