Starbucks instead of the Main STreet BAkery?

I just read the same thing. I am saddened to the core. Starbucks!!!!! Seriously!!! This stinks....Grant it Disney "coffee" leaves a lot to be desired but Main Street without the bakery....just not Disney. Then again Disney has been doing quite a few un-Disney like things here of late, $10.00 coffee on Main Street is just one more.

I don't understand why Disney would think that people would visit a Starbucks on Main Street when they can visit one on any street anywhere. No more ooohy gooey warm cinnamon rolls....

Interesting - we have a dozen bakeries in town, but only one Starbucks (that is always full). I really missed decent coffee when at WDW.

AWfullllll . Guess they just 'rent' out to the highest bidder... typical

Wow, I thought the original plan was to add a Starbucks somewhere...not replace Main St. Bakery. :( That really surprises me considering how busy the bakery always seems to be.

I don't consider Starbucks to be "good" coffee, but it is much better than the current options on Disney property. However, closing MSB is a bad move I think.

I cannot wait. They will still have the bakery items as well as all the yummy Starbucks pastries. There will just b good coffee now instead of the swill they serve. Lol on the $10.00 coffee though! Here in my town STATBUCKS is cheaper than the dunkin donuts but perception is reality

You couldn't pay me to drink Starbucks coffee :crazy2:. This is really sad :sad1:.

I am so sad by this... I hate Starbucks! I don't care if they'll still have the old items, its not the same... It would be one thing if maybe they carried Starbucks brand coffee -- but when I saw this (on here and on my FB page froma WDW travel agent) I said "Nooooooooo!!!" :sad2:

Makes me wonder what is next. Take Epcot....Olive Garden replacing Tutto Italia and Pizza Hut in place of Via Napoli?

Gosh, this change sure has fired people up!

If it turns out to be a blend of Disney treats with a Starbucks menu inside, like FFP Cafe in DCA, then I am all for it. Didn't they just remodel Main Street Bakery? Yeah, I don't think Disney is stupid enough to have spent money on that only to remodel the exterior again for Starbucks; That was just the first step! Freshen up the outside, now they have to remodel/retheme inside.

If when it's all said and done, and there are pictures to see, if it turns out looking more like any Starbucks, then I'll eat my words, but I don't think that's going to happen.

ETA: This isn't the first time 'outside' brands have been featured in Disney parks. I, for one, sorely miss being able to have McDonald's fries! LOL

:confused3 I agree, mistake! I will really miss Main Street Bakery!

I just saw this on my FB feed and I am sad to learn of this.

I agree Starbucks coffee to me is like drinking tar. I love Main Street Bakery and it is one of the things that really reminds me of MK. I am so sad they are getting rid of it for any reason.

I don't read it like that. Everything I've seen so far says Starbucks is "replacing" MSB. It doesn't sound like the bakery will still be selling what they've sold in the past.

i'm kinda on the fence. i think its a good idea if they keep the main st bakery goods in there. i read somewhere else it will be starbucks bakery items with the main st bakery ones moved to another location (i think in fantasyland?) which i think is lame. personally main street for me is one of my favorite places but has felt overly commercial when i spend too much time there. i hate that the one side is just one giant long giftshop. i would have thought it would be better to put starbucks in the hotels (guests can get their caffeine fix before the parks) but i guess the park gets a more steady flow of visitors.

I don't understand all of the negativity. It's not as if they will be putting up a green Starbucks awning where the striped Mainstreet Bakery awning currently is. Or that they Fountain View in Epcot will have a giant 'S' on every window. From what I can tell, it won't look much different that it does now. Take a look at the Disney Parks blogpost:
Both locations will be designed to fit the theme of their surroundings. At Magic Kingdom Park, for example, cast members will wear a costume consistent with the early 20th century look and feel of Main Street, U.S.A. At Future World in Epcot, the new Starbucks location and cast member costumes will be designed to match the park’s futuristic theme.
I'm guessing that it will be still be very much the old favorite Main Street Bakery but will feature Starbucks products as well as the old Disney favorites. I'm not going to get too upset over a cinnamon roll. There are many more important things in life that are more worthy of my anger and disappointment.
