Star Wars Weekend Tips 2012

When we were there on Saturday I didn't see the food cart outside, they do have one right after the entrance, in past years they let us go in and buy from that one...not sure if it's the case this year. Sorry

I saw that the dessert cup is smaller than the bucket where you can get the kids power pack and the popcorn. I haven't seen the slushies ones

here's a video I took of merchandise, they have baseball caps with the logo of this year SWW: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xvAvu_PHP4&list=UUarxr8vv__ZzTNGkYWPTUuw&index=1&feature=plcp

I am wiped out from the weekend, what a fun time. Now to get back to attending the house, the kids and my training for the Tower of Terror 10 miler and then on to weekend 2

Thank you for the answers!

Jedi Mickey is one of the fab 4 that come out between the exit to Great Movie Ride and ABC Commisary, there are four characters that rotate, Princess Minnie, Stormtrooper Donald, Darth Goofy and Jedi Mickey...it depends if you don't mind sitting in the sun then maybe 30 to 40 min. before, if you want a shadier spot (left side of Hollywood Blvd if you're fascing the Hat) then 1 hour to 1:30 before.

Thanks for such a quick response!:wave2:

Matt just posted alot of pictures from weekend 1, no Hoopla pictures in this bunch so feel free to look: http://www.studioscentral.com/column/studios-update/star-wars-weekends-2012-weekend-one

Something I did notice about the Fab 4 meet is that in the past when characters come to swap they would stay for a couple of pictures and then the one being swaped left...this year I was watching Princess Minnie meet and greet and out came Donald, he actually waited next to the photopass guy while Minnie finished with the last family and then Minnie left and Donald took her place...just aheads up.

Great pics thanks for posting!
Bummed about the Fab4 rotating, but hopefully we will get a chance to see all 4 since we will be there 3 days

here a tip, some places that sell the R2D2 mug will sell you just the mug for 6 bucks without the cup frozen drink.. if you are a beer drinker or anything else like that all those clear plastic cups fit perfect in the r2d2 mug and works great for walking around with a beer

Great tip for the adults.

Crazy question- ds wants to do PMC and JTA- it seems he is required to be there for JTA but not PMC- could I get him in the JTA line then run and try to get into PMC for him? If he got to the front of the line, can he sign himself up without me?

I don't know. Maybe someone can answer that. But if he can't sign up alone, and I believe you said on an earlier post your DH was doing a TSM run, I'd have him instead do the PMC first then the TSM run. Because the park will open earlier than publicized have him do the PMC first and then get the TSM FP's. You'll still be ok.

The other poster wasn't me- this trip is a mOther son trip only, so DH will be in Texas... DS is turning 10 on the trip, so capable- I just didn't know if it wa allowed

Agreed. We ended up running super late and got there at noon (we weren't interested in autographs, and since we live three hours away, we were just taking a day trip) and still got TSM fast passes.

Oh, okay. Well, maybe someone on this thread who's there at DHS now can ask the question and get back with you.

I'm going on a limb and saying if he's mature enough, he should be able to sign up for himself. If you're fast enough you may be able to join him in line after you're done signing him up with PMC.

If someone asks him, tell him to say you told him to run on ahead and that you walk verrryyyyy sssssllllooooowwwww. :rolleyes2

The parent has to be there with the kids to sign up for JTA, you won't have a problem though, PMC doesn't fill up as quickly as JTA, so if you're there when the park opens you can sign up for JTA then walk to the info desk and sign up for PMC

We're attending June 1-2, mainly shooting for parade and lots of character meets. No expectation of doing JTA (ds freaked out last time) or any of the shows really. When does the stormtrooper rope drop start? DHS opens at 0800 now (even though a few weeks ago when I was planning, it was 0900), so when does the show start? Don't want to miss it!

Also, I made an ADR for Prime Time at 115 on Friday. When I was planning things, I was going off of parade times from last year when the parade was 1130ish. Will the parade be over for us to make the 115 now that it doesn't start until 1240? Or should I cancel?

Is Hoopla really worth it for a 4 year old? It will just be me with my parents, so dh is not available for shoulder sitting and I don't want to sit and wait for hours to save our seats.

About 15-20 minutes before scheduled opening.

If you are at the beginning of the parade route, I think you'd be calling it close. If you are at the end of the route (Hat Stage), no way.

If he likes popular music, I'd say go for it. BUT, go over and watch from the AI screen instead of the stage... less crowded (shoulder's not needed for sitting).

The parade is over by 1, so no worries there. Hoopla depends on the level of Star Wars love the kid has. With kids, I suggest you watch it on the Idol screen as either the kid won't see anything, or you'll have to put him on your shoulders and block the view of those behind you.

If you sit on the left side of Hollywood Blvd (if looking at the stage) you'll be able to go straight to Prime Time without having to cross the parade route and you'll make it in time, no problems
Stormtroopers open the park with their "show" every day, they come out 15min. before the park opens...the thing is that the park has been opening before scheduled time, so there's no real way to be sure at what time the show will start, but the do stay up there for about an hour. If you want to catch the show from the begining I would advice being at the park around 7:25am. Funny how they changed only June 1st and June 8th to open at 8am but all the other one still at 9am for June... :confused3
