Star Wars Weekend Tips ~ 2011 Update

All of the SWW activities don't happen until 9am so EMH isn't really a factor. On a separate note in the new map/schedule that appears on starwars.com it states tha the autographs FP's will be distributed at the parks entrance and that they may begin distribution before park opening, we won't know how this will work until the first day reports come in. Again I would encourage anyone interested in checking out sww.studioscentral.com/main one of the members will be there friday early in the morning attempting to get celeb FP's and will give live reports thru out the day.

We'll be there on June 14th, the last day of SWW. I can't wait! I'm sure my two oldest nephews will love it since they're big SW fans and this is a great opportunity for some awesome pics!

My son is most interested in the celebrity talk show Q & A that is only offered one time each day. I want to make sure he gets in. Will that be something we will have to line up way in advance? Does anyone know how long this lasts? Thanks

Q&A lasts about 30 to 40 min. you should line up at least 30 min before. The stormtroopers do a funny skit before the show so be sure to get there early for this. The start they skit about 10 min before the show is set to start. (well this is what has been done in years past, I don't think they will change this part as it's really funny)

Stars of the Saga Talk Show takes place in ABC Theater. You don't have to line up way ahead, but as yulilin3 said you should probably be there 30 minutes early

That's the same day we will be there. I'm really excited!! Have a wonderful time!

Thanks for the info! I'll be sure to check that out. I've found the website really helpful so far!

How do they do EMH with SWW? I will be there in first weekend in June and they are having EMH. Any ideas on how this works??

I believe there probably won't be any early morning extra magic hours on the weekends. If there are any evening ones, it won't affect SSW since it ends at 7:00 with Hyperspace Hoopla.

the Q&A actually takes place in the premiere theater

yes, all staged events either take place at the jedi training academy stage or the premiere theater (which was also used for last year's SWW).

Does anyone know if Tatooine Trivia Trials is going to take place this year? On the PDF it mentions the trivia show for younger children, but it doesn't mention Tatooine Trivia Trials. Thanks!

if that's the adult version, it hasn't been done in a couple of years now. I'm thinking 2007 was the last year.

How is the rest of DHS during the SWW? With all of the SWW events/parades/trivia/show/etc. going on, are the "other" rides less crowded (i.e. GMR, ToT, RnRC, etc.)? Or is it just the standard amount of people who would already go to DHS on a Saturday PLUS the SW fanatics who go because it is a SWW? Any non-SW fans ever hit DHS on a SWW and find it easier to get on all those non-SW rides?

I'm not sure, I'll leave that to one of the SWW veterans to answer. From what I've read, it seems that there is the standard amount of people plus SW fans. I'm sure some people traveling to WDW don't even know about SSW until they get to DHS.

Ok, thanks! It's too bad that they stopped it, it seems like it would have been a lot of fun!

They are showing on the calendar Fri, June 5 EMH 8a-9a. ????

We loved SWW. I have a link to by trip report in my signature. Enjoy the weekend. Wish I was going to be there too. Looking at my Minnie Big Fig right now! :chewy::darth:

I'll be sure to check out your trip report! I'm glad that you loved SSW, we are really looking forward to it!! :)

The SSW festivities don't begin until 9:00, so the early park time won't affect any of the activities.

Anybody get in the autograph lines today?

What time did you need to get there to get a guaranteed time?

Just got back from our first time at SWW!
We loved it!

A few things we learned....

You have to go very EARLY to get a fastpass for autographs from the visiting celebs. We missed this. On the flip side, they are handing out presigned photos at their booths when the actors are not there signing. It is also easy to just walk by and snap a pic.

The parade was great! I was wondering why some major characters were missing though. No Obi-Wan? Qui-Gon? Han Solo? Yoda? Still, it was great and fun interaction from the Tusken Raiders and Jango Fett.

Lots of Raiders and Gammorean Guards walking around and easy to get pics and autographs. Also a few others like Zam Wesal and Stormtroopers. If you dont hit the line at the right time it can take FOREVER to get to Chewy or Luke and Leia. Same with Vader and Darth Maul. Try to get to the line early while they are on a break.

Wicket's Warehouse had some great merchandise. We got some cool books and some cool shirts that we had never seen before. Much less crowded in there than Tattoine Traders.

Hyperspace Hoopla was hysterical. I won't ruin it for anyone who hasn't seen it. Try to get there early, b/c it is hard to see the stage and you don't want to miss the action.

Just got back today - great time! We got there a little "later" about 12:45... by 3 we had seen ALL characters from the dark side! It was our plan to come back next weekend for the light side - but since we had time we grabbed some quick pictures with some today.

Here is my photo album, jump to page two!

Star Wars characters!
