Star Wars Weekend Tips ~ 2011 Update

The Star Wars parade is only once per day.. they run their regular parade at 3pm I think but that is not the Star Wars one.

The Padawan Mind Challange is for kids only I believe age 5 to 12 only... not sure of the ages.... It is a number of questions they ask the children on the stage where they do the Jedi Training.... The questions get hard... you really need to know your Star Wars trivia... no parent helping is allowed.. they mention that numerous times in the show.... It is very hard to get into... you need to sign up the minutes the park opens... and I mean run over to the sign up area... They will tell you that day where the sign up is.. usually near Star Tours somewere...

Good Luck

Do the kids need to be present to sign up? Can one parent sign up multiple kids? I'm hoping to get the two older ones in the Challenge, and the twins in the Jedi Training, but would LOVE to get all 4 in the Jedi Training. Also, do you need your KTTW to sign up? Or can DN go to TSM to get fastpasses while we wait in line for the sign ups?

one parent can sign up all the kids, you don't need your kttw or tickets to sign up.This is all based on what they have done in years past

can't wait to read this whole thing - looking for to SWW in June!

Thank you!! Crossing my fingers we'll be lucky enough to make it happen for the kids. :goodvibes

Does the SW parade take the normal parade route? We have a lunch ADR at 12:45pm and would like to catch the parade. I don't remember the DHS layout. Is there a place near 50's PTC to see the parade?

The parade comes from the entrance of the park toward Star Tours. If they do it at 11:40 like in years past you'll have plenty of time for your ADR at 12:45pm. You can get a spot by AIE and that's real close to 50's PTC. The parade is only about 15min long

Don't blow off the talks so fast.... They are quite funny... the Stormtroopers usually but on a small show as the auditorum fills up... I really enjoyed it... but it does eat up a lot of your time.

Thanks for that advice. I assumed that my kids wouldn't enjoy them. Do you think the talks are something 6 and 10 year old boys would be interested in? They are SW obsessed, especially Clone Wars. I guess I'm picturing something more like a college lecture, and I probably have the wrong impression. Thanks!!

Padawan mind challange... The child must be with the parent at sign up... They put a braclet on them.... This is from past experience... The children must be there at sign up..

Jedi Training is now done differently... All children need to be on line .. there is no sign up... Sign up is only for Padawan Mind Challange

the talks... depending on which show you go to... the clone Wars one they have the actor or actress act out the lines with the picture running... In the performance I went to.. they choose a kid from the audiance to play one of the driods... His line was "Roger, Roger"

Yes a 10 year old would love to see how they make the TV show

Ahh.. Now I see the problem... different weekends have different EMH.... I was refering to the first weekend in June that Has EMH on Friday....

Jedi training used to work this way: the Jedi Master would pick the children from the audience. Awhile back they changed it so it was first come, first served; the first 15 kids in line got to do the show, the kids had to be present in line, they needed to be between 4 and 12 and had to answer some questions (about whether they could follow directions and would be OK doing the show without a parent accompanying them). They may or may not use this same procedure during Star Wars weekend. The big difference would be that if your kid isn't one of the first 15 in line they would have to wait in line until the next show (parents could hold a place in line for them, but the kids had to be present when the CMs came around to prepare the kids for the show.)

Good to know about Padawan Mind Challenge. We'd like to sign up for the second show. Do you think that it will fill up if we wait until after the 1st Jedi Training show to sign up? I'm trying to get a feel for how popular it is. I may just need to juggle things around, or simply admit to myself that we'll need 2 full days to "do it all".

Thanks for the feedback on the talks. I think we'll try to get to at least one of them. You've been so helpful. Thanks!!

Ok, all these great things for kids to do are just awesome. With that being said, are there any other interactive things going on SWW...maybe for say a 25 year old? :rolleyes1 :darth::yoda::chewy::ewok:

try for the Behind the Force show... that is usually the one Ahsoka runs... It is all Clone Wars.... Fun show for the kids.... Stars of the Saga show will be a talk show with the Actors that show up for the weekend....

Also... in the Behind the Force show.. they will usually have a preview of Season 3... They will request all Camaras and Video Cameras off for the preview portion of the show....

If you wait until after the first Jedi Training to sign up for the Mind Challange you probably will not make it.... They only have a limited number of kids per show and it fills up fast.... Definitely by far the Jedi Training is more fun... so if you have to choose.. go for the training...

as for 25 year olds..... Elders are out of luck.. in the past they used to have a trivia contest for adults but they did away with that.... I have complained to Disney about the lack of adult activities at Star Wars Weekends... I was even selected for an interview leaving the park and then they called me two weeks later with a follow up .....

That's just the first page of the brochure, it doesn't have showtimes.

Silly question..but does the schedule show where to find Mickey, Donald, Goofy etc dressed in the star wars outfits???

I see two character places but isn't that for the star wars "real" characters.

I want the Disney Star Wars characters.

It's great to see the showtimes...although I am going the second week, I think they will be the same times, just different celebrities.

The schedule doesn't tell you where each group of characters will be but I would guess that the Disney SWW will be in the same place as last year. In between Great Movie Ride and ABC commisary.

Its great to see the map! We are starting to get so excited!!!
Does anyone know if the kids that participate in the Padawan mind challenge get anything? Like a certificate?
Also has there been an ornament tied to SWW in the past? We try to get one every time we go and I would love to have one with Star Wars characters for my son to hang on the tree.
