JJ didn't make this film, Rian Johnson did.

We could still learn more about Snoke in the third film.

This isn't a realistic/historical film so not exactly sure the comparison of Green Berets knowing aircraft weaknesses is fair. We still have one film left so the vision could become clear then.

Respect your opinion and agree with some points but I think a lot of what happened in the originals didn't exactly make sense or was realistic.

huh. I really blew that one. It felt so much like Abrams. Embarrassing. Oh well. As for real life, I get that, but Finn has now known how to find the secret weakness of 2 or 3 major weapons. And they have used the garbage disposal/sweeping line in both movies. It's just idiotic.

Snoke is dead, unless he's Darth Maul I guess. Why would you revisit him? No, Johnson wanted Whiny Ren in charge for some reason, so now he has it. Hopefully Whiny can find some competence to be a decent bad guy.

I did enjoy Yoda. That might have been my favorite part of the movie. It actually had dialogue and plot!

I've actually stopped reading all negative reviews of this movie. I just really don't care why anyone didn't like it anymore.

It was great movie. It's movie of the year by far. It's in the top 3 of all Star Wars movies. Everyone I work with, friends, family etc. all agree. I actually haven't met someone in person that hated this movie, just online people.

I don't have the time, energy, or desire to dedicate to debating this with people. I feel like there was no winning with most of the nay sayers.

I know it hasn't happened for everyone, but A LOT of people have said they liked it better the second time. :darth::chewy:

Some of the scenes that dragged along the first time, actually sped up for us. Even the casino as the payoff for their attempt while ultimately exposed-made the need to jump to light speed as a defensive desicion so breath taking.

Plasma fell uninjured through some flames in a metal suit, I give her 1% chance of being dead.

Snoke pretty much said he planted the no Rey parents image in Ren's mind, so im good either way on that now.

I think Carrie had enough footage in 9 to make it worth keeping her alive.

Suspect Luke will be in 9 through more flashbacks and Yoda type images.

I didn't grow up with Star Wars and the new trilogy really helped me get into it. I feel even the originals have some holes that don't make a lot of sense. I haven't read any of the books but maybe I should to see the other stories of the galaxy and maybe help fill some holes.

I’m in the same boat as you Ryan. The new trilogy made me into the Star Wars fan I am today. Before the force awakens trailer came out, I was never into Star Wars but after watching the originals before force came out and then after watching force I became in love with these new characters which drove my recent love for Star Wars.

It is really crazy how different it is for everyone. It really is like people are watching 2 different movies.

This x 2187! After watching it the first time I thought it must have been some practical joke by the people sending out the film. Surely some people got to watch the gag film while others got the real one. I went to see it a second time to see if I had missed something(maybe this time I might get the real deal). Nope sadly I got Grouching Luke, Flying Leia again. Then I started talking to co-workers at work who are also long time Star Wars fans. Most hated it but those that did not were actively trying to convince themselves that it was a good movie. I think this is the case with a lot of people who are on the fence. They want to like it because it is Star Wars.

I see in several forums the whole "Fanboy had specific expectations in mind and when that didn't pan out, we hated it". I don't know about the other "fanboys" but I did have an expectation that this movie would build off the story line of TFA and to an extent RoTJ, ya know because it is basically Star Wars Part VIII. Instead Rian Johnson dumped on those movies(and fans of them) and chose to go with a script that appears to have been written with crayons by a first grader. The movie is an insult to fans of the Original Trilogy but it also an assault on the intelligence of those fans as well. Plot holes so big you could guide an AT-AT through them, Idiotic forced humour, and complete lapses in physics(even for a Star Wars movie) riddle this movie. Don't even get me started on the side plots that make zero sense, like the Bowling for Canto-Bight subplot.

The movie currently sits at 51% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes and I think that has even been inflated to a degree. I know there are some rumours that someone is creating multiple accounts to tank this film on that site but after reading hundreds of pages of reviews I just don't see it. For the most part the negative reviews appear to be well thought out and well written. Also the movie is a full 200 million dollars behind TFA at the 15 day mark.

In conclussion, if this movie did not carry the Star Wars name and have a slew of characters returning from the Original Trilogy the first time any of us would have seen this movie is on MST3000, or maybe while grabbing a meal in the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre.

Audience rating is not an accurate representation of the actual feelings.

Well, I am definitely not trying to cmake nvm nice myself it it was good - I honestly very much enjoyed it. And I have talked to about 20 people in real life who have seen it and I'd say 90% of them really liked it with no prompting or having to convince themsleves

I get it, you didn't like it and obviously other people didn't- but a lot of people legitimately did

I am not a crazy fan boy but I am pretty into Star Wars (watch tons of you tube videos devoted to it and theories about Snoke and Rey's parents, read probably a dozen books (be it the EU or newer cannon books).

And despite that I like bed what theit did with Luke - it's 40 years later, people change in 30 years. If you want to see super hero Luke then play Battlefront II (just using this as an example as it is the first thing you cited)

And I am by no means trying to change you opinion - but the way you talk down to people that liked the movie is getting a bit much

I have read all 40 pages... that took awhile. I saw the movie last night. When I saw TFA, my husband and I were conflicted on whether we liked the movie and it took some time to reflect upon it. It is now one of our favorites. It is also the movie that got my girls to love Star Wars and I love seeing it through their eyes. I grew up with Star Wars. ROTJ was and is my favorite as it was the one I most remember from my childhood. I was concerned after reading reviews that TLJ was going to be awful but we all really loved it! There are things I did not like and where I felt scenes were necessary or dragging but I loved every second that Rey, BB8 or Luke were on the scene and I wanted more. I am surprised more is not being said about the tension and chemistry between Rey and Ben that is amazingly done. The Force connections and Throne room scene were excellent. I wish we did not have to wait two more years.

I finally went and saw it for a second time today. I caught details I had missed which was nice. I still felt the middle of the movie was too long and found myself thinking about what I needed to get at the store afterward during those parts, lol. The ending really was well done in this movie though with the red salt, crystal caves, throne room battle, the double sunset for Luke's send off... I really got back into the movie for the last 45 minutes to hour.

I really liked the scenes between Yoda and Luke also. I laughed the most this time at the part where Rey slices the rock, which falls on the woman's cart below, and also the parts with the porgs - love it when they're in the ship with Chewy and one is tearing up the seat, the other has flight glasses on, etc - so funny!

I didn't have any specific expectations, like superhero Luke etc. I think most of us who didn't like THJ just wanted the story to be continuation of what was built up in TFA and to a lesser extent RoTJ. This was almost like reading a "Choose Your Own Adventure" book where two different books were ripped in half and glued together. We go from Star Killer base being blown up to an OJ Simpson like chase through space while the rebel ships runs outta gas <- Example. They CLEARLY should have kept the same director/sreenwriter for the whole new Trilogy but one can only assume they had some underlying reason for handing the reins to Rian Johnson for one film of the trilogy. if we read between the lines I think its pretty obvious why they did this.

Also unlikely for someone to go from trying to save his super evil father and stopping at nothing, to trying to murder his mostly good(at the time) nephew in his sleep.

I re-read my post twice. I am struggling to figure out from where this came.

Audience rating is not an accurate representation of the actual feelings.

That is almost certainly the case but in this instance I trust the 51% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes a whole lot more than I trust the 91% Tomatometer. After looking through a comparison of the two for all the movies I've gone to see in 2017 I will probably start using the audience score as my guide over the Tomatometer.
