I think I may have asked this once before, but since Disney likes to change its mind about a lot, I'm just double checking. I plan on arriving by Friday morning, but my son who is doing the 10K with me won't be arriving until late Friday evening. It's ok for me to pick up his race packet since I am his legal guardian, correct?? Do I need to bring any proof, like a birth certificate or anything? Should I contact RunDisney to make sure this is ok?

At tower of terror as long as they are underage and you are the legal guardian, as long as you have the signed waiver, you can get his packet.

Correct. The legal guardian can pick up for those under 18.

Question for you all...looking at the course map, where exactly do we exit DCA? I'm trying to figure out which restrooms will the last ones before we leave the parks :) Trying to avoid the porta potties on the course.

I think it's the backstage exit by TOT. We come out on Harbor where the old entrance to the parking lot, where Disney Dr dead ends.

Aside from running the 10k, I'm also playing Sparkle Minion for DF during the Half, which means I try to see her along the course as often as possible in case she needs or wants something. (Including support, or course!) This is my first time at a race with her at DLR, and there aren't specifics about spectator areas in the program.

It looks like I'll be able to catch her along Harbor at about mile 5 as she leaves the parks, and along Chapman around mile 9/10. That would give me time to hustle back up the finish line to meet her there.

Does anyone know what part of the parks might also be open to see her at the beginning of the race?

I'm pretty sure to get inside the parks you have to purchase the Chear Package. However, looking at the course map, there are 2 other spots I think you can see her. If you look at the map and see the letter "A" where it turns to the right then down south again, I think we come out from backstage behind Indy where the tram stop in DTD is and then run back into the parks through the turnstyles and you can see her there. The other spot I'm not sure b/c it's the 1st time w/ this course, right after the 1 for the medic stop it looks like we come out of the turnstyles again. We're doing 1 of 2 things ~ either going backstage again getting into DCA via the backstage underpass after we exit and there'll be fencing you can stand along to see her. Or we run over to the shuttle stops you see when you come in from Harbor and run down the shuttle area into the backstage area from that way and you'll be able to see her over that way as well. We've done both routes, it's just hard to tell w/o the detail in the map.

Hmm...I may have to linger in the esplanade for a bit to see if I can catch her in one direction or another. Bummer that I won't be able to get any photos of her in the parks, but that makes sense. Thanks for the help!

I would double check because they have seemed pretty adamant about not being able to pick up anyone else's packet. You didn't say how old your son is.

My great costume debate is beginning to look like it may only involve me carrying a lightsaber. Costume ideas are easy enough to come up with, but finding good costume tech clothing at a reasonable price is proving to be very difficult. Combine that with wanting to be ready for bad weather, I don't want to have a costume dependent on nice weather conditions.

I have a long sleeve black tech shirt for Return of the Jedi Luke Skywalker, but have yet to find black running sweats for a reasonable price. I haven't had much luck finding gray clothing that fits, so my ideas for an Empire Strikes Back Luke Skywalker aren't working either. Well that and I have to convince myself that spending $60 on the Yoda backpack is actually worthwhile since it would be a very expensive costume prop.

I am considering a Han Solo costume for the 10K. I have dark blue running sweats so the pants are covered. We'll see how my long sleeve white shirt holds up after 4 miles on Saturday. The blue vest is easy enough, but if the shirt doesn't work, then it's a no go.

So it may just be a lightsaber for me. As much as I want to run in costume, I'm not going to spend a lot of money to make a passable running costume since it won't get enough use to justify the cost.

That's how my 1/2 costume went. I had big plans for my Boba costume, but time got away from me and when I had a little time this weekend, my printer stopped working. I know I won't have any time when I get home next week either, but just found a cute Disney/SW/IASW image that I'll try to print out at work so I can iron it on and at least be themed.

I spent too much time working on my costume and not enough time training. Lol

Thanks!

He is 12. I think I will take your advice and call and double check anyway. Better to be safe than sorry.

I'm getting soooo excited!!!!! I've been battling an IT band issue since this summer. And my goal is still just to finish but I'm seeing some improvement and it thrills me! I was able to run 5 miles last weekend (hoping for 6 this weekend) which is more than I was able to run for Avengers so I already know I'll most likely have a better finish time than that one. Nowhere near a PR but thats so far from my mind right now it doesn't matter.

I'm still planning on walking almost the entire 10K so that means no picture stops for me but I'm ok with that. I'm finally feeling totally confident that I can finish both races. I didn't feel this way a month ago. I'm a pretty happy camper right now!

I'm slow anyways so at this point, the only possible 10K stop would be either a short line for Princess Aurora if she's even on the course and Chip and Dale dressed as ewoks if the line isn't brutal.

I don't want to risk getting swept for character photos. I know I can keep pace with the balloon ladies so if I have to, I'll leave a character photo line and just keep pace with them during the 10K.

Based on my past runDisney races, I have a little bit more time to play around with photos for the 1/2, but again any stops for me will be based on how well I like the character and what their line is like. Even in races where I stopped for character photos, the very best character photos came after the race. (Though I would love for Disney to do something like make Star Wars characters available for meet and greets in the park after the race for runners with proof of race (medal, bib, etc.)

I wore my Jedi robes for the 24 hour party in May. Suffice it to say, I don't think it's possible for any race photo to be better than the photos of Darth Goofy striking me down after he "stole" my lightsaber from me. For me, I would be angry with myself if I failed to finish because I played around with character photos. The medal trumps all.

It's kindof cool looking at all the RunDisney Twitter coverage for Marathon weekend and knowing this time next week I'll be waking up at DL!!!

We're going to play any photo ops by ear. DF is taking it easy during the 10k, so if there's someone fun without too long a wait, we might stop. I've heard there might be a 501st presence, and I'd stop for them! I am going to be running in my Darth Vader dress, after all!

DF doesn't usually make photo stops during the Half, because she's focused on getting it done, but I wouldn't be surprised if she made a couple for this race.

I'm so excited! One week from today we'll be on our way back to the Magic!

I don't know what it is about runDisney races but they bring out the worst in me in training or better said lack of training. Looks like I will be looking at PW next week. That said, I'm still really excited for the 1/2 and my 1st trip to Disneyland since the early 80s! Has anything changed? Just kidding.

Hey you're still gonna have a great time! Thats what I love about Disney races, they're so much fun and I know I'm never gonna get a PR at one! Stopping for pictures and just enjoying the experience is what the Disneyland races are all about for me! Well this year it will be less about the pictures and more about the finishing lol.

No doubt. I'm not really worried about my time. The Disney races are a lot of fun. Plus, last I checked my medal does not have my time on it. I would like to properly train for a Disney race in the future not to try and set a PR just to not be dying the last 3 miles. Oh well, I'm going to go out and get a really nice long run in on Sunday and see what happens the next week. I cannot wait to see Disneyland and DCA. 1st trip for me since I was 4 or 5 and first trip ever for my wife and son.
