Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend ** Check-In ** January 15-18, 2015

I totally blew it and haven't booked our hotel yet. Sad to see there is no availability for on-site hotels. Does anyone think they will open up more rooms as we get closer?

Get Travel still has all 3 hotels available; they work w/ DL races for discounted rooms and park tix. PPH is $350, DLH is $397 and GC is $467, but they have a 3 night minimum.

Ditto what Kim said. We booked with GET travel. And you also get a $25 per night credit towards park tickets if you book an onsite hotel through them.

Also, Acclaim travel has rooms still for DLH and GCH, cheaper than Get Travel but no credit on the park tickets. I've never used them though.

Every DL course I've seen starts and ends at DLH and that's where expo is as well.

Also I registered for the races, hotel and tickets all through Acclaim. Read a lot of reviews before and they are really nice people.

Yup! We start on DL Drive right before the DTD underpass. For the DL 1/2 and you run towards PPH Hotel and turn onto Katella, for Avengers the start is the same but you turn backstage into the back area of DCA. The staging area/bag drop is in the DLH Parking lot area and the finish lines are just behind ESPNZone in DTD on the service road. For Tink, same start area, but we run the opposite way towards Ball and the staging area/bag drop are in the PPH parking lot area. The finish line is in the PPH parking lot as well. B/c of the need for a finish line area and bag drop/staging area, we'll either end at the DLH or PPH.

There's a highly good chance I will be wrong about this but if I'm correct RunDisney should post the medal pics on Wed or Thursday. Avengers and Marathon weekend medals were both posted 3 months prior. I'm excited to see what they will look like!

We can all hope. I missed the reveal of the Avengers, but I was able to see it in person at the DL Expo (which only made me regret not signing up even more). I definitely want to see the SW 10K, 1/2 and RC medals!

I signed up for ToT before Avengers was announced or I would of seriously considered doing Avengers but honestly I'm glad I didn't cuz then I couldn't do Star Wars and I'm def more of a Star Wars fan so I was pumped when they announced it. My daughter is signed up for the kids race and I am signed up for 5K and RC! Only thing we are not doing is the Wookie Welcome Party.

That's awesome!! I appreciate it!! I keep skimming the guide book online and the courses since they should be similar to what Star Wars will be.

No DD did a glow run 5k with me, she had a lot of fun but overall decided she wasn't going to do another till she is 80! Haha.

She's excited about the kids races though.

Well looks like I am wrong about the wed/Thursday. I think tomm is the 90 day mark of the race weekend. My countdown is going off my arrival date which is the wed of race weekend.

On another topic, who all is actively thinking costumes? I know my friend that I'm running with wants to do themed costumes and I'm finally in a mood where I really want to make it happen. But Star Wars is not my area of expertise. Can anyone throw out a few costumes ideas for a pair? I am so not creative in this aspect.

That's the thing about rD, you think you have them figured out and then they change their pattern and keep you guessing.

I am fairly certain that they will have actual medals on hand at the Wine & Dine Expo and at the Avengers Expo, too. Soooooooooon.......

The excitement building of seeing the medals reminded me of a story, my best friend was doing 2012 WDW 1/2 and she refused to know what the medal looked like, even at expo she avoided the RD booth, so that when she crossed the finish line she would be surprised, and she was.
Well I can't do that lol.....

I am a huge hockey fan, Go Preds!, and every year they award the Stanley Cup. Everyone has their own superstitions but a popular one in hockey is if you touch "the cup" before winning it, you will not win one. So mine, which started earlier this month with ToT, I can look at the medal all I want, esp for training motivation but I cannot touch it until it's around my neck at the finish line.
