Resort Thread STAR WARS: GALACTIC STARCRUISER Official Information & Questions Thread

Not sure if this is an angle you were touching on or not, but as a spinoff to this comment, I’m not so sure what I would think as a fellow passenger on the same voyage as someone constantly videotaping and perhaps narrating/talking through much of the experience.

Obviously you’re not with the same people and vloggers generally aren’t filming all of the time and many take care to minimize filming of others so my concern is overblown, but if I’m being honest I am there for the Starcruiser experience, not to be in Famous Blogger X’s videos. It’s one thing to be in the parks where such situations are fleeting moments, but this experiance feels different given the close quarters.

I know that’s a curmudgeon view in today’s world, but just my opinion!

That's one reason we picked August. Late enough to have churned through most of the Youtube/Instagram "famous", soon enough that the experience wouldn't be too diluted from the original vision. Now that I've seen a lot of the spoiler videos, my worry is that they'll make tweaks that lesson the immersion as soon as there isn't a camera in each guest's hand, and that they'll make the menu less interesting since quite a few of the bloggers have already complained about the food, which I just find totally bizarre. If you're a grown adult who can only eat mac and cheese and chicken nuggets, this might not be for you.

Question for those of you are planning to do this as part of a longer WDW trip. Are you trying to Galactic Star Cruiser at the beginning, middle, or end of your time there?
We're going in the middle of our longer WDW trip. We'll be there a couple days ahead to settle in, then the GS cruise, then a couple days to unwind and come down off the high and re-enter real life! Reserved park HS for the morning before boarding the cruise and for the rest of day of disembarkation. That way, if we want to stay immersed, we can! So staying a total of 7 nights.

Question: How accomodating are they for picky eaters? My son is on the spectrum, is a very picky eater, and would love this experience in many ways, but I am worried that he wouldn't have any choices for food. In many ways he eats typical kids food. Do they have access to pizza, chicken fingers, grilled cheese and the like?

We've never been to WDW but are planning to do a trip later this year or in 2023. We are big Star Wars fans so trying to figure out if this might be doable for us, but I wouldn't want to miss out on the rest of the WDW experience. I think we'd be too jet lagged at a beginning of a trip to enjoy the Galactic Star Cruiser (Pacific time zone), are most people saving for the end of your trip? Also considering maybe in the middle with different moderate resorts on either end. But that's a lot of changing of hotels... We'd probably have 7-8 days total in Orlando.

Beginning for us. One night at a WDW resort for arrival day, then Starcruiser, then another resort to relax/unwind the balance of the week.

We're arriving in town the day before our cruise and staying offsite that night. We're doing the cruise first, so we'll be fresh for it. Then we're using the check out day as a rest day to relax and visit Disney Springs before finishing the week in the parks. We're staying on property for that part of the trip. Current plan is to visit each park for one day, but we're flexible and might add in park hopper to hit up HS for an extra evening.

This is not our first time at WDW but this will be our first Batuu trip (would have been runDisney Star Wars 2020 but that got cancelled). We're saving Savi's, Droid Depot, and Oga's for the park-only portion of the trip rather than eat up cruise time with those appointments.

From what I’ve read they have other options (from USA today- “There's still an option to get classics like cheese pizza, buttered noodles and chicken fingers.”

One of the Disney Food bloggers (not sure if I can say their name, so I won't) did a YouTube video on the foods offered, including showing kids offerings. From what they said, the chefs are VERY accommodating and can make alternate items for kids and picky eaters.

Do you feel it was a good value and worth it? (I know this is subjective)

Yes, it’s expensive, but we thought it worth it. It was going to be a one-and-done, but now I think we may be going back. This is coming from two adults with no kids, though.

The storyline was so packed and immersive, that spread out across all waking hours, the cost per hour was totally worth it to us.

Thought I’d post a few things from a recent pre-arrival e-mail in case helpful....

MEET D3-O9

Through a viewscreen in your cabin, you may be able to communicate with D3-O9, a droid who was built centuries ago by the founder of Chandrila Star Line. She is happy to share her opinions and knowledge of the shipʻs history with its passengers.

You can activate the D3-O9 Logistics Droid interactive character (“D3-O9”) in your cabin by pressing the “Droid Link” button. D3-O9 will deactivate if you press the “Droid Link” button again or on her own after a period of non-use. When active, D3-O9 will record sounds detected within your cabin, which may include your voice or the voices of others in the cabin (“Recordings”). Disney uses the Recordings to improve D3-O9, and in compliance with laws and our Privacy Policy, which you can find at the footer of The Walt Disney Company’s website. If you prefer to disable the D3-O9 experience in your cabin, please speak with a crew member upon arrival.

Question: I have clients who want to spend the morning of their Starcruiser arrival at Hollywood Studios doing non-Star Wars things. It's at the end of a long trip where they have 8-day tickets, so it was worth it to them to add an extra day of tickets just to spend a few hours at HS that morning. They're going to have their luggage transferred from their pre-Starcruiser resort. But how do they physically get themselves to the Starcruiser if they're at HS in the morning?

If busses run from HS to DS then, Bus from HS to DS then Bus from DS to GS.
If busses do not run from HS to DS then, Bus from HS to any resort. Bus from that resort to DS then Bus from DS to GS.

I suspect someone will inevitably try walking - I'm sort of curious what Disney would do/how they would handle that situation!

The myriad of arrival/departure transportation situations is certainly an interesting aspect of the Starcruiser.

Anyone else trying to book for the fall dates that opened up this morning? I got through at 0600 to the automated message that said my wait would be longer than 10 minutes I’ve been on hold for 2 hours. Settling in for a long day on hold.

Yep I'm in the same boat. We have to call the TA line first, though, and get transferred to Starcruiser bookings. I called right at 7am ET and the CM I spoke to didn't know that fall Starcruiser bookings opened for everyone today, and she didn't know how to transfer me lol. She put me on hold then disconnected me. By the time I got through to someone again, they said the Starcruiser line wasn't taking any more calls. I sweet-talked him into figuring out a way to transfer me anyway under the circumstances. He was able to, but I didn't get in the queue until after 7:30am. I am prepared for, like, a 3000 hour wait lol.
