Resort Thread STAR WARS: GALACTIC STARCRUISER Official Information & Questions Thread

So now it appears according to multiple reports, Disney has pulled the preview videos and social media posts related to the videos of Galactic Starcruiser….
Think they are using the feedback to make adjustments prior to the Inaugural Launch ??
The reviews I've seen were limited, but consistent; all were favorable to the food, accommodations, & theming, but not impressed with the Light-Saber Training.

I think the video was fine for the Xmas ABC special. Social media is proving to be less and less useful in my own personal life and I can’t imagine it’s that relevant in the higher end for other travelers who don’t mind spending rack rates for exclusive, deluxe offerings.

You can put my husband and I down for Sept 13!! We are so psyched that we have been watching all Star Wars media in universe chronological order (not when it was made order). We are seeking out humanoid cultures we can create our own characters from - so we can LARP on our "cruise". I plan to make/assemble our costumes. We love disneybounding, but have never really cosplayed before, so this is all new and exciting for us.

Ugh. Are they purposely trying to make everything look terrible?
Are these screenshots from a late 90’s FMV video game?

I am worried based on what I've been seeing. Fortunately we can see reports from the first few voyages before we have to pay the remainder (or cancel without penalty).

I was excited about the lightsaber training, but the preview looks pretty lame. The Captain doesn't look very Star Wars to me...

The more I see, the more likely I am to cancel out May 4th voyage. As a big Star Wars fan…every time I see these videos or photos, I get mad. I am not sure I can do it.

Completely understandable. But when you're dropping that kind of money, why should you have any emotional response other than excitement and exuberance?

That's my concern here. For a company that "gets it" in so many ways, this one seems to have missed the mark.

I mean, I am about the same age as Star Wars, and scheduled my college courses in the spring of 1997 so I could be done with classes in time to see the first showings of the remastered released in the theater. I'm pretty underwhelmed with what I'm seeing TBH

This isn't directed at you, but is more of a general statement. IMO, this is a classic issue with Disney. Disney puts insanely high price tags on many/most of their offerings, with the GS being one of the most expensive. Unfortunately, very high price points command very high expectations.

There are so many things at Disney, whether it's events, dessert parties, tours, ticket prices, and even quick service meals that aren't remotely worth what we pay for them and don't meet guest expectations on a regular basis. At no point in my "normal life" do I pay $12+ for a fast food hamburger and fries meal, yet I do it at Disney and don't think much of it. Apply that to a 2-night "fully immersive" hotel stay at the price point that Disney is charging for the GS and it's an almost guarantee to not meet the expectations of many guests, particularly for those guests who are not used to the product they actually receive in exchange for paying Disney prices. Undoubtedly, people will be sacrificing so many other things in their lives so that they can save to pay for this experience.

IMO, people's expectations for this experience are way too high (and I don't blame them and totally understand why). It doesn't take much reading to find that many people are expecting things that Disney simply can't provide in this experience for each guest and the likely 300-400 other guests who are with them on their voyage. I spoke with some future GS guests who were expecting an almost one-on-one experience customized and geared toward their specific family. When I asked how that could be accomplished for every family on board, they were at a loss; they never looked at it in that manner. Time will tell.

For the record, there is nothing that has been released thus far that isn't inline with what I thought it might be. Well, maybe the glorified bus ride over to DHS; I guess I was hoping for a utilidor type tunnel.

think Wing Commander

LOL. I just watched that movie this past weekend for giggles.

Husband and I are huge fans of many Sci Fi franchises, and this just looks budget general Sci Fi (good call on the Wing Commander comparison), and not spectacular like Star Wars. Maybe improvements will happen before opening?

Maybe I should shell out the money for a Star Trek Experience instead lol. The Captain looks like she would fit well in TOS.

It seems to me that the highest crime in all of this is that none of what Ive seen so far even slightly resembles the Star Wars universe. If anything, it looks cheap and silly. Not at all what I was expecting.
