Resort Thread STAR WARS: GALACTIC STARCRUISER Official Information & Questions Thread

I agree with Auralia........

Here's the thing. If you've never been to Hollywood Studios Batuu then your more inclined to want to build a light saber, build a droid, and visit Oga's. If your spending a lot of money for StarCruiser it's in your best interest to add another day or half day for HS Batuu. Oga's mission doesn't require you to go into the cantina. At Batuu it's in your best interest to focus on the missions at hand. I know our group didn't do all of the missions. Do I feel like we missed out on something I sure do. Light Saber, Droid and Oga's do it on another day if you've never done it before. We fell for the oh you have to reserve Oga's to be able to complete the mission trap. I got mine outside everyone else got theirs inside.

We kind of left Batuu earlier than we should of we should of completed all missions. Going back to the StarCruiser ship early can result in a massive lull. I know my one nephew couldn't believe there wasn't much to do back on the StarCruiser until the time most people were back. We did play on the Sabaac table and did other things.

Yes this! Now, we had our portrait appointment at 2PM, so we headed back at 1ish to eat. But from 2:30 until first dinner there wasn’t anything scheduled to do. Perhaps we should have gone back to Batuu….

I will say the “lull” back on the ship that afternoon led to one of our best moments. DD7 and I just happened to be in the atrium (thinking it was sort of a lull in the day!) when we were asked if we'd like to go somewhere on the ship (this was just after 2pm, for context). I’ll spare the specifics, but the subsequent 15 or so minutes was one of the most incredible parts or our voyage - one of those Disney moments so unique, so rare, and so special that it will forever be a lasting memory. I'm frankly getting chills just thinking about it. I know that sounds crazy and admittedly our experience was probably best suited for someone with kids, but between this and the atrium activities we really enjoyed ourselves back on the ship.

Granted I'm reading others talk about all the missions on Batuu which I guess we missed (we did the basic ones to advance our story but that didn't take all that long). Just goes to show how much is really going on during various times over the voyage and how experiences can easily be different, sometimes just by happenstance.

We did Savi's and Droid depot and even had plenty of time for the rides, lunch, Oga's for drinks and the missions. Neither Savis or Droid took away from the theme. One of the Saja on board did ask my son about his lightsaber though. Hint, Oga's does add to the experience with the storyline.

We got back on Friday as well. The experience was amazing. Such a stark contrast from the "youtubers" hate (which I can only at this point assume is for clicks or hate because they cant afford). l. My son even got called out by Lt. Croy in the finale.

May I ask how much time you spent on Batuu? We are hoping to do Savi's, Droid Depot and Oga's as well and want to make sure we have enough time available for all the missions we need to do.

Hi everyone! Our sailing is coming up 7/17-7/19, it is a B2B with the DVC Wish sailing.

We will be @ WDW from 7/12-7/15, attending DHS Moonlight Magic on 7/14 - does anyone know if Savi and Droid will be available during the event? Or should we book it before the event starts (I believe we can get in starting 6pm even if the event starts at 10pm)? This should give us time to get those out of the way and have lightsabers for the photo session.

Our original sailing was 7/15-7/17, but because my kids wanted to do ATX at Kennedy Center, we moved it to 7/17 because ATX was only available on the weekend, this now gives me a problem on transportation. We have a TURO rental from 7/12 and I was hoping that the return location will be at Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser. I am reading here, that it is only valet? Will we be able to meet the TURO owner there? Or do I need to arrange for a separate drop off?

We are then going to board DCL upon disembarkation. I was told then there is no DCL pickup from Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser so we have to go to a WDW resort and get picked up there. Has anyone done a DCL transfer? If so, what did you do? If I were going to Uber to a WDW resort, I might as well Uber to the port. I was opting for DCL transfer so I don't have to worry about PAT.

I think you will have to arrange a separate dropoff. There is a gate with guards checking guests’ names on a list before the terminal, parking is valet only, and I believe it is the cast member parking lot. There won’t be any way for the owners to meet you at the terminal or to get to their car.

Now see, both of the bolded sections in your posts would seem to run counter to your argument that there is not sufficient time for Savi's, Droid, etc. Since there isn't really much to do back on the Halcyon until 4pm or so, then why not participate in Savi's / Droid / Oga's if you have the interest? I have been to Batuu several times (both Batuu-West and Batuu-East), but never built a saber or droid; so I have booked both experiences for our upcoming trip. From what I have read (and from your two posts), it would seem that there is ample time.

OK. This is what I'm afraid of. I think it's best if we book ourselves a room at WDW then. Return the car the night before at the resort and then take whatever transportation Disney provides for guests from the resort to the starcruiser

I do agree you could do both Savis and Droids especially if you take one of the first transports out to get your full time there. I was merely commenting on the fact that the down time was odd and unexpected given how much you are on the go go go.

We rode both rides twice (once in standby - both early waitimes of 30ish minutes - and once in LL later) and also did spend 30ish minutes in Ogas. It really is whatever you make of it.

Since we're going to be there for my son's birthday we may do Savi's. We already have droids from our last trip when I felt my boys were really too young for the lightsaber building, but my DH has also never been to GE and I think he'll enjoy that experience. My hope is to get a 2:30PM portrait reservation on day 2, so if we go to Batuu right at 8, we can hit the rides, missions, Savi's and Ogas, get back by 1, eat lunch, and then change and have the new sabers for the photo session. I do wish they did something for Starcruiser guests at Savi's though, like maybe give you a message to pass along to one of the Sajas (the characters who do lightsaber training onboard). It would be an easy element to add and would help tie Batuu into the storyline of the ship.

Because of the expense, I see this as a one time experience. At what point do you see Disney changing this to a Deluxe Resort Hotel, and charging the normal rates for a deluxe resort.

They won’t. They may change the story… since the ship is so old they can choose to set it during any part of the Star Wars time line… I don’t think there are enough rooms for this to be a regular hotel unless they added on

I agree. If running the voyages proves to be unprofitable at some point in the distant future due to lack of interest, etc. (which is doubtful), I believe Disney would just shut the whole thing down rather than convert to a "regular hotel." I see no way to make this work as a simple 100 room hotel.

Never. A deluxe without a pool? No windows to see outside? not gonna happen. I think there will be a demand for quite some time. If anything, if it looses popularity they will re-theme it or lower the price or both.

I'm curious about this "not completing all the missions" thing. Was your group a mix of smugglers, Resistance and First Order? Or, did each of you get multiple missions to complete regardless of affiliation?

From what I had read prior to today, I thought there was basically one "mission" everyone got to complete on Batuu. If there are multiple missions, or the possibility of multiple missions, I want to make sure we don't miss out on something.

Also, a broader question - do mission assignments sort of come organically, or is someone who is an extrovert and talks to people likely to get more missions, or different ones, than someone who keeps to themselves more?

Lastly - there are three of us travelling together. If each of us takes on a different role - smuggler, Resistance, First Order - will we end up separated, or will we still be able to hang out together as we complete missions? I'm thinking I will take the role of a smuggler, my fiancee will be a member of the Resistance (like another famous SW couple), and our friend will be undercover as a First Order sympathizer, though actually being loyal to the Resistance.

From what I’ve been seeing missions occur more often for those who seek them out. If you’re more withdrawn the system seems to assume you prefer to be a more passive observer-type so it’s not going to try to keep pushing stuff at you.

For people taking different paths.. that’s more complicated. There are basically two “primary” tracks (Resistance and FO) and several “secondary” ones (like Smuggler.) Those on a secondary track still can choose to go along with one of the primaries. So your smuggler will likely be getting missions that intersect with either your Resistance or FO member but the Resistance and FO members are going to be sent different places.
