Hello. Longtime lurker finally posting a question. We are heading to Orlando next weekend to pick up our DGD (8) for a summer visit. It is also our anniversary. Being Florida residents, we avoid the parks in the summer due to heat and crowds, but we just couldn't stay away from Disney all together. We are spending one night at CBR and we were thinking about checking out the Boardwalk in the evening. My husband is a HUGE fireworks fan and I was hoping we might be able to see the fireworks outside HS. Obviously, we would miss the projections and such, but is there someplace for decent firework viewing? Thanks!

YES you will have a very good view right outside the gates. People say you can't really hear the music, but we could hear it fine. We watched twice, once as a sardine in the crowd, and the other standing pretty much by ourselves outside the park.... we enjoyed the outside view better!

The area just outside the gates, along the fence by the water, has a fantastic view of the pyrotechnics. Unfortunately, they do not play the music out there, and you can't hear it other than very faintly if the wind is blowing the right way. So annoying!

Interesting, I've watched it four times just outside the gates (with my groups, waiting to board our buses), and have never heard anything but very faint music. It's so great WITH the music inside the park that I would never choose to watch from outside unless my group's schedule requires it.

Another option, I have heard people pull up a youtube video of it and try to start the audio of it just at the right time......

The new show that started yesterday has a lot less fireworks and a lot of projections which you won't see from outside the park.

I have tried that, without much luck. Besides the timing, the speaker on a phone doesn't exactly do the John Williams score justice, especially outdoors!

Thank you for the info - I am more of a fireworks fan than a Star Wars fan, so this is not a positive change for me!!

We were there in early June and watched the show from our balcony at BWV. Obviously you were just watching fireworks and not hearing the music but it was fabulous! My parents said they watched it from the back of one of the Friendship boats. I'm betting you could also see it from the bridge by Epcot and by Swan/Dolphin.

I agree and am disappointed. Those fireworks were amazing. Best night show at Disney. Although, like you, I love fireworks. Guess they probably don't do it for the expense which I understand, but still disappointing.

They had to build a launching pad outside the park to be able to build the new lands, that's why the fireworks are of centered and fewer. You could feel the old fireworks and see them closer because they used to launch from inside the park

How is building two new lands saving money
I was referring to the less fireworks and more projections. It's a huge cost saver.
As for the new lands, they will bring in many people, but it also is no coincidence that they are having them correspond to the movie releases of toy story 4 and the Star Wars movies. Disney would not build the lands without knowing they will make billions more by building the new lands.

Well it's obvious Disney did that to save money. Thanks shanghai

Also possible they are trying to enhance the show with other elements. Look at Celebrate the Magic. Look at the Tree of Life projections. More visual elements can sometimes enhance the show.

I wonder how visible the fireworks are from outside the gate given how off-center the pyro is now.

I understand and can see your point. But what I feel they have done is make the show less visible to people who want to go to fantasmic or be somewhere than that one location to watch the movie trailer.
For example, the hours in July when we are going are already reduced and make there's only 1 fantasmic show, which is at 9 (when the park is closed). The "enhancement" will be impossible to see unless you are right in front. The reduced hours started it and now the more I look at HS its really a ripoff for a day of ticket use.

Hoping to see them from perhaps the bridge by Epcot or somewhere by the Beach Club this October; seem awesome!::yes::

July hours will likely change and a second Fantasmic! Might be added.
