Star Wars Dark Side race weekend availability

So we closed almost a month past our original closing date and by the time I got access to our account there was only deluxe studio availability at SSR for April 15th and 17th. The 16th is unavailable at all DVC properties. I booked the two dates that were available and put in my wait list for April 16th at SSR. I also booked at all star sports for that weekend just in case. It's been almost a month and a half and nothing yet.

I check everyday, multiple times a day myself because I don't trust the wait list process (lol), and nothing's been available. Am I holding out hope for nothing or do I have a good chance of getting my wait list fulfilled ? I will continue to check multiple times a day but maybe someone has a success story for me to make me feel better

I think there's a chance but race weekends are one of the times that tend to be less likely for cancellations IMO. But, just 45 days or so ago I released a studio when other members of the family decided to not join us so it does happen. Did you set up the waitlist to expire 7 days prior? A couple of days ago I had a waitlist fill for 3 weeks from now.

Thanks for the info. I have it set to expire 31 days prior. If I don't get anything what happens to my points on the rooms I have booked if I cancel them at 7 days prior to travel?

If you just plan to stay at All Stars then you'd want the waitlist to be 31 days. If you were to cancel the other nights less than 31 days out then the points would go into holding. Another option, since I believe you can cancel the cash reservation up to 5 days out without penalty is at 31 days you could cancel your SSR nights and then set up a new waitlist for all the nights in a couple of locations and have those waitlists expire 7 days out. That's going to be rather unlikely but nothing lost in trying.

Yes, the cash room can be cancelled 5 days out but I'll probably be adding dining plan which changes it to a package (we're passholders so it becomes a "ticketless package" according to the CM I booked with) so I may just have to stick with my all star sports reservation once the 31 days expire. I guess I'll be crossing my fingers that the wait list comes through or I find the night available myself. Thank you again.

Ive been checking almost every day too. I booked room only at Yacht hoping something will open, but I am not optimistic.

You may also want to check the DVC rental websites. In addition to renting points, they also have pre-booked reservations for sale. That's how I was able to get April 15-19 at AKL Kidani just a few weeks ago. I think they charged us $14.50 per point.

Yes, I saw that option a few days ago, but that's more than I want to spend for our stay. I don't mind the value resort we booked as a back up I would just rather use my points instead. I'll just keep searching myself and hope the wait list comes through. If it doesn't I guess I"ll just have extra points to either bank or use on another trip later on in my use year.
