Star Tours question...

Hey all...we're going to be visiting DL in August. We were hoping to get into Star Tours one last time before it was closed or the re-design. Wikipedia says that October 2010 is when it will be closing, but the DL schedule on another site just came out for August and it appears that Star Tours will be closed the second week of August when we're there.

Did the dates for the remodel get changed?

As I usnderstand it, October is the closing date at WDW. July is the closing date for Disneyland.

Yeah it got changed. I think the original announcement was that Star Tours would close in the fall. A more recent official Disney blog post though announced that Star Tours in Disneyland would be closing earlier - July 27 to be exact. Bummer that you will miss it!

Ah dang. Yeah, the kids are big Star Wars fans. They will be bummed. Seems weird they'd close it during the peak season.

As I understand it, October is the closing date at WDW.

According the MP's WDW Weekly Update (May 17, 2010):

Star Tours at WDW (DHS) will be closing on Sept. 8, 2010.

Just got back from DL and the park map has a note on Star Tours stating the following:

"Temporarily closing as of 7/27 for "reimagining""

I'd say it's pretty official now.

Oh, bummer! I'm going over Labor Day for the DL Half-Marathon. I was hoping to get one last time before they change it. I knew a change was coming but don't know much about the details. Anyone know how long it will be down for? Or any more details on the upcoming upgrades?

I have seen a re-open date of May 10, 2011. Sounds like there will be some pod-racing. Oh, it's supposed to be 3-D I guess. I haven't heard any other details of the changes yet, but I haven't really been keeping up with this that much. I like Star Tours, but the visual stuff always makes me feel a little sick, so I can only guess how sick the new version will make me.
