Standard view in POR vs pool view?

Is it worth it to pay extra for a room with a pool view at POR? Or is the standard view ok? Did anyone have a bad experience with standard view in terms of facing a noisy parking lot or anything?

Agree with Hopefully that there isn't much point in paying extra for a 'view' at a mod or a value. We have stayed in parking lot, pool and river views here. Enjoyed them all just fine. I now book whatever is available/least expensive. You are not going to get much opportunity to enjoy any views from your room and you don't have a balcony at these resorts. Meanwhile there are many pathways to stroll around POR where you can really soak up the peaceful atmosphere and enjoy the 'views'. We didn't find the parking lot view noisy or intrusive in any way.

Enjoy!

I’ll throw in another “not worth it”. We actually request to be near the parking lot so we can be closer to the bus stop. We don’t spend much time in the room so, a view is just not a priority for us. Rather spend the money elsewhere.

We requested a 3rd floor corner room - loved it. Was nice and quiet. I don't think the view is worth extra.

Agree that it's not worth it for the view. We're doing preferred this time for a change but the views aren't worth an upgrade.

I don't think there's any reason to. I usually shy away from pool views simply because they can be loud when you're trying to rest in your room.

I guess I'm the only one who always books garden view at POR. No pool views as they can be noisy! I would rather look at the beautiful foliage than a parking lot. We step outside and walk right into the garden like setting, paths, and little bridges. It makes our stay a little more special, but that's just us:)

I agree that garden view is the only “view” I would pay for at POR. From your room, you aren’t really seeing anything but the outside walkway. But I’m not a fan of being near the parking lot noise, even if I can’t see it from the room.

Unless you are sold on a Princess room, I would put the money towards a prefered room. Views don't matter with POR, location does.

I was nervous about booking a standard view room so I made a request for a nice view. We got a room that was between the quiet pool and the grassy area between Acadia and Magnolia Terrace. It was a very nice, quiet room with a view of the quiet pool to the left and the grass straight ahead. :) Since people walk past the rooms we usually keep the blinds down, anyway. We don't want them looking into the room.

We always book pool view. Yes we are the ones drinking out there at 2 in the morning by the quiet pool.

And while doors are on the outside its themed so well it makes sense that they are.

As others have stated views won’t matter much at POR as there are no balconies to enjoy the view from. But with SV you are almost guaranteed to be facing a parking lot. In our experience the parking lot wasn’t noisy and there were enough large trees around to sort of block the view of the lots.
