Just further proof that standard view at BWV goes fast. Called today to make a ressie for preferred view at BWV in June 2003 but asked out of curiousity if standard views were available for 5 weekday nights (Sun through Thurs night) any week in June. Informed all standard views, studios, 1BR's, and 2BR's, were gone. Of course, there are plenty of preferreds left.

Yep. Must be the tiny rooms and the long walk from the elevator.

wish more people would buy into the long walk small room story.

maybe the demand for those bad rooms would go down.

funny how those market forces work, even with all the jaw bone work from the soap box, long walk and small rooms they book up first and fast

I'm not sure what the outside renovation schedule is, but they may be doing the standard view rooms next year, so that will take some out of availability. I would imagine they will do 1/2 or 1/3 at a time.

Actually, since the points aren't so high on those rooms, people don't feel like they are getting rippied off so bad, that's why they go so fast.

I've found the GVs at the BW also seem to be going pretty quick lately. Even at 79 pts per night, we've never felt ripped off. We're still waitlisted for two more nights in Nov, and would be willing to turn in some of our standard view (cheaper point) rooms for them. I'm curious as to how many rooms they actually take out of inventory at a time during the renovations.

Yep! I booked 3 standard view studios for June myself! I called 10 mos and 3 weeks out and barely got them! So, I guess it does pay to call early!

By the way, I love the SHORT walk to Epcot and MGM and the SHORT walk to ALL those restaurants and ESPN! I guess to each his own!

I own at Boardwalk and after staying in a standard studio I will never go back to preferred (unless I really have too ;) ) I book at the exact 11 month mark! No messing around here - just business :)

I will say that I will leave it to chance a little and gamble - I wait until the last day of my planned trip to call, I won't call everyday at the 11 month mark.:earsgirl: Everyone has their limits....

We're going home to a std studio in 78 days, and we booked right at the 11 mo window. It's the 1st time we were able to get std view. Now that we have it, I hope we like it. But then whats not to like, It's disney!

The standard views always go fast but I think they are going even faster this year because the refurbishment is moving over to the standard view side of the building now and blocks of standard view rooms will be closed for refurbishment so there are less standard rooms available.

If getting ripped off by BWV rooms is wrong, I don't wanna be right!

We've got out 1BR standard view booked for June2003. I tried to book my week, 2 weeks into my 11-month window... No availability. I had to go with the the next week, just at the window. Wow. You gotta be quick.

What are people talking about, small rooms and long walks to the elevator? We always stay std. view (though once we did have to stay pref. because we didn't call 11 months out). Room sizes are the same.

And long walks to the elevator? Take a look at the map, the std. view rooms are more often closer than preferred view rooms.

The posters are not comparing standard view with preferred view at BWV. They're just continuing an old joke - comparing OKW with BWV. Some of the more passionate OKW fans like to make a big deal about the larger rooms at OKW and long walks from the elevator to the room at BWV. After a while, you will get to know who is having a little bit of fun and who is just jerking "the proverbial chains".

We booked 11 nights in a Std View 2BR at BWV for June 2003 calling 11 months out....one day at a time. We don't mind the Std. view at all, and we can stay 3 nights longer with the points we save over Preferred view. This past June we had a Std. View from which we could see the EPCOT fireworks and from which we could exit a side door leading to a short side walk which crossed the driveway and lead us right to the bus stop.....heading out the same stair well and exiting the opposite door located us right at the quiet pool/Community Hall. We loved the location! So this year.....you guessed it.....we requested another 'view of the bus stop!' :p

LOL, Rich! It still amazes me how often you are successful. I guess a lot of the veterans love to jerk chains as much as you seem to. FWIW, Most of your posts (and the replies they always seem to generate) give me a good laugh!

CarolynK - You are welcome!

We also booked standard view for the first week of June by calling day-by-day at 11 months. Having stayed preferred view during our first two stays and ending up with a Luna Park pool view, we decided to give standard view a try during our last two visits. Now we will save the points and book standard view whenever possible.
