Standard Jambo studio, help?

Should I request near lobby?

Most of them face the pool. At some point they will (or already have) reclassified some Savanna View rooms as Standard View due to obstructed views.

ETA: This AKV map might be helpful. All of the rooms facing the pool area are Standard View rooms except those located on the Giraffe Trail (those are Value rooms).

At Jambo, there are Std. studios that have pool views, savannah views and parking lot views. I have had a pool and savannah view. And for the points I would not be dissapointed if I ended up with a parking lot view. There is a link to a map if you do a search and I think there are only 4 or 8 that are the parking lot views so you have a better chance of ending up with a pool or savannah view.

Lisa S was so kind to add the link to the map that I was talking about. It looks like there are only 4 total std view studios that have parking lot views. So yes, if you add a reqeust for "close to lobby", you would possibly increase the possibility of getting a pool or savannah view. BTW, I loved our stays in the Jambo studios.

This is incorrect. All Jambo House Standard View Villas have a Pool View. The Values at Jambo House can have either a pool view, savanna view or parking lot view.

Even if you are the furthest room from the lobby you won't be very far from it. If you are really close to the lobby you could end up with the roof view since your room would be overlooking the restaurants.

Here is an aerial photo of the Standard View rooms that face the pool area. If you compare this photo with the map I linked to in my prior post, you can see that Studios numbered 5408-5412 are as close to the lobby as you can get but are over the restaurant roof.

ETA: Actually those rooms along the lobby (5401-5406) are obviously "close to the lobby" but again they overlook the roof area.

The info I was given for Jambo House was that rooms that are next to emergency exits that obscure the view were the ones being considered for reclassification. Here's an example, circled in this aerial photo. The emergency exit stairs jut out past the balcony of the adjacent room, obscuring the view to the right from the balcony:

The room I was in was located on the Pembe Savannah right by the pool. The fence for the Pembe was almost directly below the room (just slightly to the left) so the room was over the savannah but everything to the left was the pool area. The CM at check in told me it was one of the newly reclassified rooms.

The booking categories at AKV can get confusing. You have one based on size (values), one based on service (concierge) and two based on view (standard view & savanna view). Then throw building (Jambo House & Kidani Village) on top of that. And if you want a two bedroom, you also have dedicated and lockoffs to consider.
