Standard Cake Flavor Favorites?

The amaretto was delicious and so was the peanut butter my top two picks!

Those were the 2 I was torn between. But DH loves peanut butter and chocolate, so we're going with that. If I was paying for a custom, I would happily drive my self to Orlando to taste as many flavors as I could. That german chocolate flavor sounds really yummy to me too. Cakes are one of my favorite parts about weddings.

i am so sad i asked my planner about removing some flavors that i knew we did not want and she still said it is not an option for the tasting. uhhh

I went to another disney wedding a few months ago, and they had a cake flavor that was delicious! I forgot the name, but the cream part was kind of fruity - maybe hawaiian tropical or something like that? Anyway, it was delicious!

Was it passionfruit? Kind of tangy? We had passionfruit filling in our cake and OMG, it was truly the best thing I've ever had...I still dream about that cake, and am constantly on the lookout for passionfruit so I can try to recreate it...:thumbsup2

vanilla cake, white chocolate mousse, and passionfruit mousse...2 layers of our cake were that...yummy!!! I don't see vanilla cake listed above, so I suppose yellow cake would suffice...

I found out from my EM that they can't offer the peanut butter filling for a tasting b/c of people w/ nut allergies - it can't be anywhere near the other fillings/cake samples at Franck's.
Just an interesting bit of trivia - I also had a few flavors I knew before I went I wouldn't want!!

I found out today from my planner that we can get the peanut butter mousse! So we're having chocolate with peanut butter for the cake. DH is so happy. I asked if it would cost extra and she didn't say it would, so I'm assuming this is included in the basic intimate cake package.

OKAY...again...another email from Tanis saying she has tried talking to the bakery several times for other weddings and has been told that peanut butter mousse is strictly for custom weddings....Im so upset...I dont know if she is lying or if I should contact the bakery? what should I do? if you can have it and you are an intimate bride...then shouldnt I be able to have it???? Im jealous! :confused3

Maybe it's because of where we're having it? We're having the ceremony at the WP then reception at the GF room. Maybe the peanut butter cup can't be at an outdoor wedding/reception? Or maybe my planner is wrong and we'll be sorely disappointed when we have to choose another flavor after being told we could get it.

Actually, I already know that I cannot have peanut butter or any other nut based (Amaretto, Almond) cakes or fillings as my brother has a potentially fatal nut allergy. Even one layer could contaminate others. I love peanut butter cups, too. Food allergies like this are tough! However, the chocolate and berry combos sound fabulous, too! What is that Bavarian cream filling like?

You know, the flavors I had picked before the tasting were:

chocolate cake/dark chocolate mousse/ganache (for 2 layers)
vanilla cake/bavarian cream/fresh strawberries (for 1 layer)

since we were able to taste 3 cakes, I threw in the vanilla/passionfruit/white chocolate mousse just for the heck of it...

...wouldn't you know that it was the BEST CAKE EVER so DH and I switched our 2 layers to that. I'm a total chocoholic, but the chocolate cake didn't even come close to being as amazing as the passionfruit one. We kept the chocolate as 1 layer.

Disney, of course, served the chocolate layer before the passionfruit  so I don't think a lot of people got to try that amazing cake...our top layer anniversary cake was that passionfruit, and we ate it on our anniversary...it was a bit stale, but still good...lol
