Standard Cake Flavor Favorites?

We chose bottom layer - almond cake with Bailey's mousse
middle layer - lemon cake with raspberry mousse
top layer - carrot cake with cream cheese filling
I am also surprising DF with a groom's cake at the welcome dinner. It will be marble make with amaretto mousse.

I emailed my WP a few weeks ago about the Peanut Butter mousse and she told me it was only for custom. If anyone finds out this is not true please let me know...I LOVE PEANUT BUTTER!!!

That's a bunch of hooey! There are numerous Intimate brides on the boards who have had peanut butter at no extra charge. These things seem to depend on the initiative of your planner to find out what the policy actually is...

Regarding the $75 Intimate cake tasting, I've said this before, but it's my pet theory:

For $25 you can order a cake that feeds 8 from the Grand Floridian bakery (which makes nearly all the wedding cakes) to be served at one of the hotel restaurants where you have a reservation. So for $75 you could get three cakes to try! Check out the sticky at the top of the Restaurants board on Birthday/Anniversary cakes....

Another thing to keep in mind; I don't know how true this is, but I heard that if you're having an outdoor wedding, you may or may not be able to have a mousse filling. Something about the temperature?? Don't take my word on this, but it was just something someone said on here.

Yes - I've heard that too. They worry about mousse fillings spoiling at outdoor weddings, so that may be why you can't have the peanut butter

Also, for the poster waaaaaay back, red velvet cake is a Southern specialty: Chocolate cake that's been colored red, with white cream cheese frosting. Sooooo good!

I didn't realize Intimates had any flavor choices at all...that's great. Even though I am not a cake fan, I was hoping for a choice to please my guests!

On a slight aside note, I know you can have the top layer boxed to go, but if you only eat half of the bottom layer, will they box that up also so we can have it for supper? I hate the thought that some cake might be thrown away!!

What does the Red Velvet cake taste like, I've never heard of this before?

I went to another disney wedding a few months ago, and they had a cake flavor that was delicious! I forgot the name, but the cream part was kind of fruity - maybe hawaiian tropical or something like that? Anyway, it was delicious!

Just an observation by my 12 year old DD....did you guys notice that they don't offer the traditional "white" cake ? Or at least not with the intimate/escape options anyway. I didn't even notice that, but my ever observant daughter did ! I thought it odd that Disney didn't include that option.

so... with the intimate cakes... after the cake cutting reception when they box up the top layer for you, do you have to take it with you right then and there to wherever your going to next (dinner, etc.) or can you have it sent to your room?

I found out today from my planner that we can get the peanut butter mousse! So we're having chocolate with peanut butter for the cake. DH is so happy. I asked if it would cost extra and she didn't say it would, so I'm assuming this is included in the basic intimate cake package.

You are having a custom right? I emailed my planner requesting the pb and dark chocolate mousse, and they said both would be fine. I just had to decide which two of the standard fillings to take away. I also requested to try the red velvet cake, and again they said fine without having to remove a cake flavor at all.

I just did my tasting last week (I am going to do my trip report tonight with pics) and it was definitely worth it. I am a custom bride, so I didn't have to pay for it but I don't think I could have picked without trying them first. I requested the carrot cake and the peanut butter frosting too. The carrot cake is great if you want something different. I persoanlly was disappointed with the buttercream and the plain chocolate (white and milk) fillings. These were all pretty boring. The amaretto was delicious and so was the peanut butter my top two picks!
