Hi all- I’m so confused. Was looking at what resorts are available in August and noticed that I don’t have ft. Wilderness as an option. I’m a blue card member (2011 owner). Am I missing something???

Can I ask a dumb question? Are you sure you are searching for 1 bedrooms? I often forget that part when looking for the cabins

Really enjoyed my 2nd stay in the cabins this past week. I enjoyed the first stay last year enough to want to go back, but the second stay reinforced that and also directly addressed my biggest annoyance with the first stay.

It is an excellent deal for DVC members who own elsewhere - I usually have enough points to stay in 1-bedroom villas every trip, 4 or 5 times a year - for 4-5 nights. But every once in a while, I'll do an extended trip of 6-7 days, and that eats into the point total - I don't like to borrow points, so I will generally try to conserve points for another stay in that same use-year so I can balance out the extra points I used up with the long stay - but that means staying in a studio, which is difficult when 99% of the time I'm used to a 1-bedroom, even on solo trips. The cabin gives me something more versatile than a studio - I can close a bedroom door, I get a full kitchen...but the points are so much less than a 1-bed and not too much more than a studio. With the big outdoor deck, and renting a golf cart to get around, it's a great, relaxing, space even though it's not much interior square feet.

And this stay, I confirmed that my dehumidifier problem during last year's stay was either a fluke of that cabin, OR has been addressed and fixed. Because that first stay, the dehumidifier ran 24 hours a day, was very loud, and I had to request they deactivate it...that was also in February, so it wasn't different weather or climate - I was worried that would be the one annoyance I'd have to address every time I stayed in the cabins. But this trip? No dehumidifier. Ever. It stayed off the entire trip. Wonderful!

I'll be back to the cabins in June - I booked two cabin stays this use year as I had dipped into my points a little harder for a few stays with extra days - this allowed me to balance things out and still have 30 points left to bank into the following year.

They might be popular to use with non Ft Wilderness points. DVC hasn’t sold many points for the resort yet.
Yep, there are a lot of things holding up sales there (mainly dues, but also the restrictions and the trust), however, they are proving to be an extremely popular 7 month trade-in. It took a couple of months for my waitlist to fill in a single day in May for a cabin. If you are on right at 7 months, you have a good chance. Outside of that, it's getting difficult.

Now, late October, you can forget about getting in there.

What is "the trust"?

The cabins are part of the Palmetto Trust. DVD remains owner of the inventory.

What they sell is RTU that inventory vs selling an ownership interest in it.

Right now, it functions exactly the same but being sold this way, allows DVD to accomplish things they can’t when they sell as a leasehold condo.

What could you envision as a potential pitfall of this for someone who purchased CFW?

That they can add other inventory from different component sites into the same RTU plan.

It would give one more than one home resort but they are allowed to rebalance point charts across all inventory activated in the same plan.

So, let’s say they decide to put LSL into the same plan…and then realize that the points initially used for some of those rooms need to be lowered, then above the points to the CFW.

Or, let’s say in 2042 they decide to keep BWV and BCV as DVC, they can just create it as one plan and mix and match the points at both.
