DH's work schedule made it impossible to book in advance but finally have our yearly trip booked for next Saturday! Usually we plan months in advance but with the lowest crowds of the year I wasn't worried.....until we booked our FP+ yesterday! Now my teen is convinced we will spend our trip waiting in lines and possibly not even get to ride seven dwarves mine train (no FP+ available). We have always visited during low crowd times (sept or early dec)

Whoops hit post too soon....basically wondering if the new system will make this significantly trip different? Do we need to run straight to seven dwarves or plan on waiting in line for hours? I can accept either way, just want to mentally prepare my crew to manage expectations. Thanks!

I'm sorry your teen is worried.

My last two trips were in early August and the week before Christmas with my teen DD. Both busy times. I was never able to get a FP for 7dwarves. We rode it each time waiting in line. Each time the line said 60 minutes, each time it was really about 35 minutes. You will be able to ride the ride. In August we got in line during the fireworks and watched from line.

I hope you are the early rising type, because that's going to be the best way to do the big attractions with the least wait. If you see something you want to do and the wait is 30 minutes or less, do it. The lines are never as long as the waittime says.

Don't hesitate to try to use the FP kiosks in the park after you've used up your three FP. In MK we were able to get three more and still would have had time to get more if we'd staying until closing that day.

It will be a great trip....if you don't let your worries bog you down.

Keep checking for FP+ lots of people have reported getting one closer to thirr actual trip, so even though your trip is just a week out keep checking!

If you're really concerned about SDMT, go at rope drop or the last hour or so of the day. If you've seen Wishes, go during the fireworks. If you've seen the parade, go during the parade.

There are a few tricks to missing the largest lines, but you will be able to ride.

Also, if you find yourself in the parks and don't know what to do next, check out the website in my signature to find the actual wait times for rides throughout the day ;)

I think it's the idea that there are no FP+ times available for some rides that creates this vision of long lines and crowds. We have always gone during low crowd times and enjoyed strolling around and hopping on rides with very minimal wait...even being allowed to stay on and ride again because no one is waiting to get on on some occassions! Also we chuckled at some if the FP+ options for rides we have never used a FP for in the past, I guess it is a totally different scenario during busier times. I'm just hoping that our imaginations are getting away from us and it will be similar to what we are used to. Can anyone confirm what it should be like crowd wise next week?

Not sure what you consider a long wait.

But here’s something to think about,

I was looking at the wait times on the app today, and 7DMT had a posted wait of 40 minutes at 9:07 this morning. Park opened at 9:00 with no early EMH today. Since then it has steadily gone up from there all day long. It is now listed at 160 minutes. Actually, scratch that, while I was typing this it popped up to 170 minutes. As I am not at the park, I have no way to verify this time is accurate. Disney tends to exaggerate their times a bit. However, even if they are off by half that is still over an hour wait. Take it as you will.

I would think it shouldn’t be quiet as bad the end of next week. Today is a higher crowd level day because of the holiday weekend. However, I’d still expect long lines all day for this ride. It looks like unless you are willing to be at the park an hour early and in the very front of the rope drop crowd, even arriving at rope drop, isn’t going to prevent a wait of 40 minutes or more, but it might avoid a 2 hour one later on.

Best advice is to keep trying for someone’s cancellation. Also, try the single person copy and paste method, or the overlapping times method. Don’t only try for a 4 person reservation. I know people have reported luck finding FP+ for their families by selecting a different overlapping time window for each member.
