We are planning a family trip to HHI next summer. :cool1:

We'll have 9 people and I'm trying to select accommodations. My DMIL has trouble with stairs- is there any way to avoid them? We would love a grand villa. Are there any grand villas in the lodge?

TIA

The only way to avoid stairs is to be in the lodge building. It has elevator access from the ground floor garage area. Never stayed in GV, only 1 or 2 bdrooms.

I don't know for sure, but if you're going during a busy season, I think the only way you can get a 2BR in the lodge is to request handicapped accessible. The 2BRs in the lodge are all lock-offs and are usually used as studios/1BRs when the resort is full.

Unless it's absolutely for you to have everyone together, I'd get a GV (if you have enough points) and a studio in the lodge for your MIL. If you can't do the GV, I'd still go with a dedicated 2BR and the studio.

MIL can come visit with the rest of the family when she wants, but still have her privacy when she needs it.

The GV's all start on the second floor and go up another flight to the 3rd bedroom- and they are not in the lodge, so no elevators-

Thanks- that's what I thought.

As far as HA rooms, do we need to bring her handicapped sticker or some documentation? DMIL is not in a wheelchair, she just has really bad arthritis.

No.
You don't need any documentation.
You do need to mention it at the time of your reservation so that they can make sure there is an 'appropriate' room for her. If you need no stairs, as the others mentioned, you may need to get a handicapped accessible room to guarantee that.
