Stage-3 Capacity at MK

y'all realize that the crowds aren't for the rides, but for the fireworks, right?!?

I mean, I've been there once (outside balcony of Contemporary after dinner) to watch the fireworks, and quite honestly, they're kinda worth it. Y'all know how we ohh and ahh over the fireworks on a regular day there, on the 4th, they just go on and on forever and ever and if you're INSIDE the park, it's a 360º experience no matter where you are. Kinda worth the smoosh.

They are great, but Kenny the Pirate posted wait times just a little bit ago for MK and Small World had an hour wait and Peter Pan had a 110 minute wait. They might be there for the fireworks, but they're looking to do things in the mean time.

Maybe Disney lowered their attendance and decided not to let these large crowds in the parks. Instead of 120000, maybe the lowered it to 900000. Any one know what numbers equals a stage 3.

I was down there once when it was like this. They closed the Magic Kingdom on Christmas Day years ago when we were down there. I had never heard of it happening before. This was previous to all the other access roads and World Drive was backed up out to 192.

It was at 70,000 when Stage-2 was called today.

We are here now at the Poly. We didn't go to the parks on purpose today, but riding the resort boat around the loop we had an excellent view of the crowds trying to get in. It was a solid sea of people that filled up all the space between the train station and the waterfront. So glad to be watching fireworks from my room instead of the park! The public areas of the Poly are packed as well. One CM told us it is the busiest day of the year at Poly. There wasn't an ADR for dinner left at any of the monorail resorts (fortunately we planned ahead).

We stayed out of the parks all day today, and watched the fireworks from our room at the Grand, which was wonderful! What we found amazing was how low the crowds were afterwards! We went over to the MK around 10:30pm, entered on Main Street during the MEP, and were directed to the back pathway where they had a DJ set up and a dance party going on. The weird thing was there was hardly anybody there! Seriously, just a handful of people! We exited right in Tomorrowland where they had another dance party, Club 626, going. This one had a bit more people, but I was shocked by how empty it seemed! In 2.5 hours we were able to ride Space Mountain twice, sit and have a Le Fou's Brew at Gaston's, ride Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder, Magic Carpets, TTA, and have a snack from Casey's while watching the Kiss Goodnight. The weather was wonderful! Not a drop of rain and nice and cool! I didn't know what to expect from our first experience with the 4th, but given the same plan, we all agree we'd do it again in a heartbeat!

Ill be the first to say this week has been nothing as I expected. Taking advantage of AM EMH (including being on the bus at 5:50 AM) and taking a break from 11:30-5, we've been able to see and do everything we wanted without waiting more than 20 mins.

I agree! We've been here since Saturday. We've done everything we've wanted to, and that's with a 2yo and 11mth old! On saturday we did almost everything we wanted to, including all mountains, with little waits. My 10 yo rode Everest 4 times in a row on July 2nd, with only two of those with FP and the other two we walked on. The crowds and heat have been way less than expected! The rain has helped.


For the 4th, we went swimming at the resort, got to ak around 4pm and walked in dinosaur, Everest, the coaster in Dino land and the safari. At closing we headed to Epcot, grabbed dinner and then sat near the rose garden for fireworks. We avoided WS so we never felt crowded.
