Stacie's Journey for Weight Loss and the 1/2 Marathon Jan 09!

Hi guys! Thanks so much for your encouragment and suggestions! Very much appreciated! I'm trying not to be too discouraged and focus on my fitness goals more for a little while instead of the scale.

It's cold and rainy here today so either I will have to attempt my run on the TM tonight or get cold and wet. The wet I haven't minded so far, but it's only in the 40s... Too cold to get wet IMO. I haven't received the stuff yet to clean my shoes which means I'm still wearing my New Balance. They didn't do too good running so I may just try to walk. I'll just have to see how the day goes.

I will run Sunday no matter what. I should have the cleaner today or tomorrow and hopefully my Saucony's will be ready for the Sunday run! Cross your fingers!!! :goodvibes It will be my first increase in mileage for my training. 3.5 miles.

For the remainder of the Minnie training, this is what I have on tap for my Sunday runs (run/walks). Scott...Amy...anyone else training... Does this look reasonable to you? The 4-7 mile jump scares me a little...

3.5m run (This Sunday)
4m run
4m run
4.5m run
5m run
10K (There is one in Raleigh I think I am going to do)
5m run
4m run
7m run
8m run
The 15K

I wanted to try to do a 10K before the 15K so I found one in the area that closely coinsides withe my 15K training. I had to swap the 5M run for the 10K run. Someone give me an idea if this looks reasonable.

Hope everyone has a great Friday! yay! It's Friday!!!

Have a good weekend!
Stacie

PS. We found out that Matt's EEG and blood work look better!!! YAY! They have released him to drive short distances (within the State) and we go back in one month for a follow up when they expect to release him completely from all driving restrictions!!! :dance3:

Hi Stacie

First of all....ITA with what the others have said. Just focus on your fitness and health....don't pay as much attention to the scale because so many things can factor in (water intake, TOM, muscle development, etc). Go by how you feel more so than by a specific number at this point :).

As for your long runs...they look very reasonable and definitely should get you where you need to be for the 15K. :goodvibes I love that you're doing a 10K before the 15K. That makes SOOO much sense to me. I think you have a pretty solid plan there. :thumbsup2 And all the XT work you've been doing is awesome. I saw your totals over on your team thread and it looks to me like you've had a very successful week!!!

 To you and Matt for excellent results from his Doctor's visit. That is fantastic news!!!!

Have a great weekend Stacie...and I hope the weather cooperates for you this weekend so you can get your run in :sunny:.

And thanks so much....you've been so sweet over on our team thread and here on my journal with all the great comments. I appreciate it! :goodvibes

Hi Stacie i'm glad Matt got some good news :)

You are doing amazing with your training, dont let the scale get you down!
Have a great weekend & i hope the weather plays nice for your runs :)

stacie your plan for the minnie looks fab! I'm so impressed by your strong will power even with stinky shoes, lol.

I no longer look at scales as a measure for how i'm doing. In fact, i don't even measure. I go by how my clothes fit so that i don't obsess about stuff (i got far too into the scales a couple of years ago). I also noticed that it takes time for your weight to reflect the hard work you put in. Maybe next week you'll kill that pound :cool1:

Happy weekend and 3.5m run on sunday

Glad to hear that Matt's test results were good!:thumbsup2

Hope you have some good weather so you can get that run in this weekend.:wizard:

Keep up the good work!:cheer2:

Stacie, I am so thankful that Matt's test came back so postive! I can only imagine the relief you are both feeling. Answered prayers are so nice! Second, I agree with others, don't let the scale make or break how you feel about your efforts. I know that when I am working out that hard (back in the early days of my journal before all this current stuff in my life) I had to eat more than usual or my efforts would be rewarded with a gain since my metabolism changed. You will probably see a nice loss in the next week or two. Your monthly average will probably be four pounds but your weekly average will likely be hard to predict.

I am seriously proud of you and impressed with how hard you have worked! Just hang in there, patience is so hard when you are trying to lose weight but it pays off. YOu are doing so well enjoy your success!

Thanks you guys for all the Well-wishes for Matt! :grouphug:

:drive: Just a quick drive by to post my stats for today...

1 hr, 10 minutes total. 3 mile RUN in 39 minutes, 3.6 in 48 minutes. With warm up and cool down...total of 4.4 miles.

It was 40 degress and a bit breezy when I started out, but boy did I heat up fast! Overall a good workout! I ran the entire 3 miles except about 15 sec there towards the end...STUPID NUMB FEET! I felt great though. I never felt like I really needed a walk break. Compare this Sunday to last Sunday...apprently the walk breaks make me faster or I just ran faster starting out. This time was nice comfortable pace for me and I just never needed a walk-break. Overall, I am very pleased with today's workout!

Thanks all for stopping by... I won't mentioned we did the movies this weekend with POPCORN...and that I had two snicker's last week! :rolleyes1

All for now...
Stacie

glad you enjoyed the run Stacie :)
I'm sure you burnt the snickers & popcorn off ;)

WOW...Stacie. GREAT RUN!!! Sounds like you're really hitting a new level. you ran the whole way? That's incredible. I'm really VERY proud of you!!!

It's also great that you're finding a comfortable pace!!! :thumbsup2

Are you doing the 1/2 Marathon??? I know it's getting filled up. I *KNOW* you can do this girl!!!

I finally beat my nerves and yes... ::yes:: I registered for the WDW 1/2 Marathon yesterday! :faint:

I am so nervous, but also so excited!!! :hyper:

Matt said he's not really into thinking about training for it, but he would like to do it w/ me... so...I registered him to. We'll see how that works out for him.

Thanks Amy for the vote of confidence...and Scott for the *nudge*!

That is wonderful that you registered for the 1/2, Stacie!!!:cheer2:

Hope you have a great Monday!:grouphug:

Hi Stacie!

CONGRATULATIONS!! :goodvibes:

Had a smokin run and signed up for a half marathon to boot!! :goodvibes:

That run of yours was awesome!! To do 3 miles without walking is an awesome accomplishment...and you maintained a great pace! Still want to know what's causing those numb feet, but if they hold off until the last 15 seconds of every run, you'll be in business :) Were you able to run in the Sauconys?

Nice to know you both will be there for the half next year!! You will have so much fun doing that event!! Nothing like running through the castle...around Epcot....with all of the crowd support and characters...and the medal to boot! I'm excited for you guys and I KNOW you will do just fine!! Stay smart and healthy and that finish line has your name written all over it :)

Awesome job with everything Stacie...keep up the great work!!

:cheer2: :cheer2: Woohoo Stacie!

What a great run! COngrats on signing up for the 1/2! You will do great.

Have a good one,
Beth

Hello, Stacie! I'm so excited that you and Matt are registered for the half in 2009. It's going to be FANtastic. I'm glad you decided to go ahead and take the plunge before it was too late. :thumbsup2

Congratulations on another great run!

Stacie, that is wonderful you ran at that pace! Congratulations on registering for the half marathon! You are really moving in a postive direction, great job!

Popcorn and snickers give you energy! Its all about moderation and you are doing that very well, good for you!

I've lurked in your journal before & am FINALLY getting around to really reading & posting.

I'm really impressed with all you've accomplished!! You've a LOT to be proud of!!

You'll do AWESOME at the Minnie!!

Thanks guys! and Welcome Julie. Thanks for stopping by!

I am super excited about the 1/2 marathon! Completing the Minnie will totally boost my confidence too! For those of you that have done it before...Are the shirts Unisex? I must have high hopes...I currently wear and XL and I registered for M! That's some motivation huh! I've not been a medium in....well, Have I ever been a medium???

Not too much happening my way... On Monday I did 9 miles on the bike and yesterday I did the 30 min aquacise class. Tonight we go to Wilson and plan to get my run in. It's scheduled for a 2.5 miler tonight.

All for now!
Stacie

Oh stacie you do make me feel ashamed!!!
Your exercise is awesome ....& i just keep making excuses!!
I bet the medium will fit fine - it will proberbly end up too big :)

Hi!

I just caught up on your journal and I am SO impressed with all you've accomplished! You should be so proud of yourself! :cheer2:

And congrats on registering for the 2009 1/2 marathon! That's so great and you're very courageous to take the plunge!

I'm 28 and have PCOS too--I know how hard it can be to live with, but the exercise is just so good for you!

You've inspired me to start thinking about trying a 5k. I love walking, but haven't been active in a very long time. Maybe one day I'll be brave like you and go and register!

Keep up the great work! :thumbsup2
