Stacie's Journey for Weight Loss and the 1/2 Marathon Jan 09!

Stacie...YOU ROCK! WOW...not only running in the rain BUT...having fun doing it! :cool1: Also...you've had such a successful week of workouts. You have to be so proud of yourself...I know I'm super proud of you!!! Great job girl....I hope you have a fantastic weekend!!!!!

Well done Stacie :)
It sounded lots of fun running/walking in the rain, glad you enjoyed it :)

So...I did end up taking Friday off and then felt guilty about it... I guess because it was a run day and I think I really need to run 3 days a week, but then again...I'm not sure. Is two days enough??? :confused3 NO worries though. I did do the Step Class on Thursday and 2 miles on the bike. Today I walked 4 miles and tomorrow I will run and try to run as much as I can instead of mostly walking like I have been. I've got to pick up my pace!

Tonight Matt and I went to see Enchanted. It was really cute! Best part is that it was at the $2 movie! Cheap date! ;)

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!
Stacie

Hi Stacie,
Good one!!!!!!! Running in the rain is different isn't it? I have done that in the warmer weather. What have your temps been, I may be jealous :)

My neighbors look at me like I am nuts too, oh well.

Keep up the great work,
Linda

Good Morning.

SO, yesterday I went out for my 3 mile run. I did it in 35:46!!! :woohoo: That is just under a 12 min pace...right??? I was so suprised!!! Matt went with me and as were warming up I was telling him I wanted to increase my pace to 12-13 min miles so I wasn't so stressed about the sweepers for the Minnie. I just wanted to do this by May! I started out a bit fast and by .6 miles was out of breath... I slowed a little and decided to add some walk breaks in there. I really think I am a run/walker instead of a runner... If you can picture my street (it's just one). We are in the cul-de-sac. I would run down the street, run up the street, run down the street and then WALK up the street. I think that is about a 9 run/3 walk??? I hope to eventually change it to a up and back twice, then a walk...did any of that make sense??? Anyway... I ended doing a total of 4 miles and cooled down to some Buffett. Overall, I was very pleased. I think it may have just been a fluke, but next Sunday I'll time just the 3 miles again and see what happens...

Today we will hit the gym for XT...Depending on what time we get there, I may do some of the 20/20/20 class, probably the step part, as well as some elliptical and defiantely some bike...Got to get some miles!!!

Last week looked like this:

Monday: 20 min step, 8.5 miles on bike in 40 min. 20 min walk at lunch
Tuesday: 30 min aquacise
Wednesday: 3 miles walk/run, 45 min
Thursday: 35 min Step, 2 miles on bike in 8 min, 10 min strength training
Friday: Bagged the run for a REST day
Saturday: 4 miles, 1 hr, 10 min
Sunday: 3 mile run/walk (35.:46), 1 mile walk, 1 hr

Who can do the Math??? How many total miles??? 21.5 total miles! :teacher: Yay!

Ok...Yes, so yesterday was good day...Today did not start off so well... After the run yesterday, oh, yeah, and it was raining... my shoes were dirty. I took the off on the porch and accidentally left them there. Since we were planning on going straight to the gym tonight, I asked Matt to get them off the porch and I was going to wear them today. It had rained last night and he said the were probably wet. When he came in the house..."They are worse than wet." What??? "A cat SPRAYED on them!" WHAT!!! :scared1: You're kidding me right??? I could not believe this! I was so mad!!! :furious: Where is the "I'm so mad I could spit" smilie??? I just started crying. All the trouble and time it took me to find shoes and now these are all messed up! I don't have the $$$ to go buy new ones, but I don't really want to put these on my feet again! I hate to throw them in the washer because I'm afraid it will mess them up. The last time I did that on a pair of athletic shoes, the rubbed my heal weird... Ugh! We DON"T have any cats!!! Yes, this is partly my fault, I left MY shoes on MY porch, but the cat is NOT mine. We continually have these random cats at our house. When get home from work and we pull in and at least 1 cat per day scatters from under the porch or beside the garage... Our neighbors a few houses down have cats. The continue to procreate and they do nothing about it. The neighbor people say they are not their cats...they just feed them! If you feed them...they are YOURS!!! ugh! Matt so graciously took out the laces and sprayed them w/ febreeze, but they smell to high-heaven. :crazy2: I'm going to have to try to clean them somehow, but honestly, I don't want to put those things back on my feet...

So...this is how my day started off.

Hi Stacie,

I'm sorry to hear about your shoes. :( I hope you find a way to clean them that won't affect the shoes themselves.

Great job on exercise and running last week! Keep up the good work!:cheer2:

Hope your Monday gets better, sweetie.

oh dear Stacie, i hope your shoes get cleaned/de-sanitised!!!
Your exercise is awesome, i wish i had your energy!
Dont let the cats ruin it!
My DH got some special gel that he put down in front of our house to keep cats a way & it worked, maybe you could look into that??

Hi Stacie! What an amazing lot of miles you got last week - you go girl! It sounds like we're about the same speed, too! Though you probably run and walk faster than I do - I'm just a slow, steady jog. I think your plan to extend your running length one more before your walk break sounds totally workable, too - a great way to do it, really!

So, so sorry to hear about your shoes. And the out of hand cat population, as well. We used to have a neighbor like that as well - I guess they didn't want the expense of getting their cat spayed or something.

They have some enzymatic cleaners at PetSmart - Nature's Miracle (Nature makes it work!) is the one that we use, in spite of the weird slogan. Depending on the degree of contamination, you may be able to spray the stuff on, maybe put your shoes in a plastic bag for a bit to keep it from evaporating too fast so you can let it work. and then hand wash/spot clean as needed. There is nothing worse than that SMELL. I would have burst into tears too.

WOW! Stacie -- I am so sorry I haven't visited before now, but you are doing so awesome! Congratulations on all of the miles and on your outstanding PR last week. Can you believe how far you have come in such a short time? All of your hard work is paying off! I hope the sneaker situation is resolved. That is just horrible! Don't let it derail you, though. You are doing too wonderfully to lose your momentum.

Have a great day!

Hey, sweetie! You are doing SO great - keep up the good work!

And I recommend Urine Gone - works great on everything I've ever used it on!

Hope you have a good day - love ya!

WOW girl...what a killer pace that was for your 3 miler. Stacie...I'm so proud of you    !!

Yay!

And the elliptical/bike workout yesterday was awesome too!!! You have got to be feeling AWESOME about your workouts last week. Just incredible progress.

As for the sneakers...I'm sorry that happened....everyone gave you great advice. I haven't had that particular issue...but owning cats I have to say the advice they gave was good! :thumbsup2

Hi guys!!! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Yesterday was weigh-in day for Biggest Loser. I was NOT a Biggest Loser. I keep playing with this same blasted lb! :headache: I was up .6lbs. :headache: You guys saw my weekly workout last week...Really...I feel like I'ven been working my butt off, but the scale is not reflecting it. :headache: That is the most activity I have done in one week's time in...well, probably ever! I was so happy with my workout last week, but now I'm just frustrated. My Plan is to be down 1 lb per week...really...it that too much to ask??? :confused3 I didn't think so, but now I'm starting to wonder. I've not had any progress since the first of January! According to "the plan" I should weight 4lbs less. I feel like I rush everywhere. Rush to work, rush to the doctor, the chiro, to Wilson, to the gym, to home so I can run... I do all this rushing to get my workouts in and I just don't feel like they are paying off. :sad2: I need the scale to show me progress. I'm doing great maintaining, but I'm 60lbs away from my maintenance weight! :sad2:

Ok...so, yesterday Matt had a Neurologist appt for another EEG...Hopefully this one will be good. We will find out on our follow up on Monday. It was later in the day and I was tired of Rushing so I bagged the aquacise. No workout for me yesterday. I think Thursday will end up being a rest day too since I have a chiro appt and then a meeting and I don't think I'll have time to make it to the gym, shower...in between the two.

Tonight, I will run/walk 2.5 miles. That's what the training plan calls for... Seems I've felt this need to do 3 miles on my run days, but I think I will stick to 2.5m tonight. I'm tired. Then Friday is supposed to be a 2m run/walk and the Sunday will be 3.5m. Gradually starting to increase that mileage for the "long runs." Saturday is a XT day for me, I seem to normally walk that one. I have a hard time getting the gym on the weekends. This week won't look as good as last week, but that's ok. I need a break and as long as I get my runs(run/walks) in I'll feel good about it.

In lieu of the aquacise, I finished our taxes last night. yay! They are DONE! :yay:

Thanks for letting me vent today. I'm either going to look into spark people or try Weight Watchers again to see if I can get a handle on the food. Hopefully the scale will start to move again...in the right direction!

I did order some stuff for my shoes to get them cleaned. I'm forced to wear my New Balance for training, which is ok...But I prefer the ones that are now Stinky! :upsidedow

Thanks for checking in and sticking with me! Hope everyone has good day!
Stacie

Huge hugs, sweetie.   My advice, for what it's worth, is to stop using the scale as an indication of success. I know that's hard, because we've conditioned ourselves to think that if the number on the scale isn't going down, we are not successful, but IT'S NOT TRUE!!! Lots of things influence weight, and sometimes your body just plateaus and "adjusts" to where you are before it starts to go down again. Portion control and exercise, together with adequate water intake, are the right things to do - and you're doing them! So don't think you're not making progress - YOU ARE!!!

I hear you about rushing around - I feel like that all the time, too. It can be very stressful, but all we can do is the best we can do - and then try to get some down time in as often as possible.

Hope your day gets better - love ya!

Susan

 Stacie,

First I want to thank you for your support. I include you in my blessings.

I hear you about maintaining. I have a few suggestions for you. The first is to take some measurements, and track them monthly. You have really upped your exercise. You may be losing inches, not pounds. Rarely do people lose both at the same time. Second, journal your food intake. Every bite. You may not be eating enough, or too much. I know that when I am in a heavy training week, I have to eat my activity points. Otherwise, I shut down my metabolism. There is nothing worse than working my butt off, only to gain weight, as you know. Third, where are you in your cycle? Was there a lot of sodium in your diet the day b4 WI? Look at the other possibilities.

You are doing an amazing job. Keep up the great work, and you will get those 60 pounds off.

Beth

Hi Stacie,

Beth and Susan have given you some great suggestions. :thumbsup2 The scale doesn't always cooperate so taking measurements may be a great way to see progress. I know that when I was losing a couple of years back, it was the inches that I lost first and then the pounds. Keep on keeping on, Stacie! :cheer2: You have been doing such a great job and I know that you CAN make your goals!:cheer2:

Have a good evening!

Try not to get too frustrated Stacie! The scale totally has a mind of its own IMO. I've worked out 7 hours each week...logging around 50 miles via bike, runs, etc...and I've gained over 5 pounds in a month. :confused3

Anyway, I agree with the others about looking at your measurements since that's a true indicator of changes to your body.

I'd also like to recommend a heart rate monitor if you aren't already using one, or at least start looking at what it is on the machines that you are using (treaddie, elliptical). I say this because there are definite zones for optimal cardio & "fat burn" and staying in those zones will aid in your weight loss goal.

There is also a neat little calculator where you can put in what exercise you are doing and see how many calories it is burning...

http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/calories_burned.asp?exercise=65

You can kind of use that, along with journaling your food intake to see if you are where you need to be from a caloric standpoint.

I know it seems like a lot, but maybe by looking through some of this stuff you'll see something that will help you out :)
