Stacie's Journey for Weight Loss and the 1/2 Marathon Jan 09!

How'd the run go tonight?? ...inquiring minds... ;)

Sorry to hear about the test results, but as usual you have a great positive attitude towards it. The gluten issue is very prevalent and I think they make a lot of products that are yummy and gluten free. Your health is the most important thing though, and no food is worth being unhealthily sick over :)

Thanks for the links to the music :) I tend to put my entire list on shuffle and just let the randomness ensue...I'm a bit odd with my music though, I tend to like to zone out a bit with it on and sometimes having it be an uptempo beat is a hinderance. When I race the 5k's and 10k's I actually have on more mellow stuff until the last mile or so. I'm weird, I know. :)

Hi Stacie!!!

First of all.....I'm sorry to hear about the disappointing test results. BUT....I think it's a blessing in disguise. I bet when you eliminate the foods that you are sensitive to, you will find that you feel SOOO much better and energized. Still, though, how disappointing to give up foods that you love  . I've been there with the Colitis so I know exactly how you feel. Matter of fact...I should keep ice cream off limits but I do cheat once in a while ;). And I usually regret it...but still....I love it sooooo!

Thanks for the music links. I'll have to go check it out. I'm looking to fill my ipod with some new music right now. Sick of all the stuff I ran to for goofy training...not that I don't love that music, but I just heard it SOOOO much. So I need to freshen up my music.

Sounds like you have a good plan going :).

And we definitely need to work out details of when we can see you guys over Minnie Weekend. It's really cool that there will be so many of us down there in May!!! :)

Good Morning!!! Thanks for checking in! The run..hmm, om...well... It didn't really happen last night. I was sooo tired, but I got distracted too.

You know that music I was telling you guys about... I started checking it out with the hopes of downloading and the using it last night. It took longer than I thought, so no run. I did download some good stuff though. I think it was a total of 4 albums. 2 were from Movies--basically instrumental, but the BPM was around 130 for the first album--good for a fast walk or jog for me and the 2nd album was closer to 145/150 BPM to hopefully boost my pace a little. Each are a 1/2 hr long. One album was more rescent POP stuff and the last one was Oldies songs! That's got to make you feel good right! All those albums I found on the workoutmusic.com site, but also found them on itunes. So I just bought them from there. I thought it would make it easier to transfer to my new, shiney IPOD. :thumbsup2 There was one on powermusic.com I liked--it was classical--strings! But they were fast paced around 130-135 BPM I think, but since I already have 4, figured I should wait. It was more expensive too...

Yeah, the test... ugh. I hate just thinking about it. I'm going try to do some research and once I finish off all the gluten-filled food in the house, I'll go from there. I work in Cary, NC and there is a Whole Foods just down the road so that is nice. I've heard they carry some Gluten Free stuff. Oh, and the whole dairy thing...Do you know what that means??? NO CHOCOLATE! Kill me now! :lmao: I LOVE my chocolate. :lovestruc I think I will try to cut-back on the dairy for now... :goodvibes Yeah, this gluten/celaic thing is interesting. I've read where it can be related to Chron's disease, colitis, and other auto immune disorders (fibromyalgia, PCOS...) it can affect other tissues in your body such as your skin, brain, nerves... So, definately can't put it off too long. Maybe I'll get more energy too! That would be very nice...though since I have been exercising regularly, my energy level has incresed some.

I know...I am so excited about the Minnie!!! I told Matt this morning I was going to go online to register... He said ok. NO turning back now!

Kinda jokingly, but not really, I told him since we can't see the Cirque show on Monday, May 5 (our anniversary) that week as we hoped--they don't have a show on Mondays... that we could always see it in January when we go down for the 1/2 marathon. You know what he said... OK. I told him...I'm not joking, and you know what he said...OK. Hmmm I'm definately going to have think about this! :rolleyes1

The key here is the Minnie. I KNOW if I can do that, the 1/2 will be fine. It's only 3 more miles right? :confused3 That is totally doable in 7 months! Please just let me get through the Minnie training! Yes, I also said, Hey--we just did the 5K...the 15K is ONLY 6 more miles... What was I thinking!

Scott...Yes, you are weird, we all know it, but we love you anyway! :goodvibes

Yeah, so today seems like a chatty day huh...better run before this post turns into a few pages! lol!

Hope you all have a great day!
Stacie

YES!! :cheer2: :woohoo:

Hi, sweetie! It was SO GOOD to see you, Matt and the 'rents last weekend. I miss you already!

I am SO IMPRESSED that you are committing to doing the 15K. It seems like such a leap from the 5K, but if anyone can do it, it would be you! You inspire me EVERY DAY to do more than I thought I could do. Without your motivation and support, I would probably still be slogging along doing the same old thing every day and getting the same results - MORE FAT and MORE ILLNESS!! So don't beat yourself up too much about not getting the run in. You know you will do the training now that you're committed to the 15K.

I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to the 5K in May. Even though I will be the slowest one there, it really doesn't matter to me. What it represents for me is huge and having my family and friends there means the world to me. It's only three months away - I have to train HARD to make it, but I'm going to give it my best shot!

As for the test results, I know it's difficult to absorb and even more difficult to make the dietary changes needed, but believe me it's worth it. You know how much suffering I endured before I changed my diet, and I would not wish it on my worst enemy so you KNOW I don't wish it on you! You will be glad you did it once you are over the adjustment phase - I promise.

Hope you have a great day - love you!

Susan

Great job on registering for the Minnie!!:cheer2:

I'm sorry to hear about the test results, Stacie. I know it's disappointing to give up the foods that you love, but it may help you feel better and give you lots more energy too.

I am so excited for you that you signed up for the Minnie.:cool1: I wish I could too, but money will be tight here for awhile. Maybe next year !:goodvibes

Have a great day!:cool1:

Hey Stacie---First of all I want to say CONGRATULATIONS!! for signing up for the 15k....now there is no turning back! I always say the best motivation for training is signing up for a race! And I definetely think you can do a 1/2 by next Jan!!! You definetely need to sign up for that as well!

Sorry to hear about the test results. I don't know much about gluten free diets but if it will make you feel better and have more energy then it will all be worth it in the long run. Hang in there, I am sure it will get easier with time!

Thanks for the links to the music, I usually use itunes, but I am going to check those sites out...I need some new music for my ipod as well!

Hi, ladybug. What's up with you this morning?

Hope you're having a good day and your training is going well. If I don't talk to you any more today, have a great weekend!

Yay!!!! That's fantastic news and i'm thrilled that your considering the half. Can you feel the excitement building up inside you? Everytime i come on this board i get some very excited elephants stomping around my stomach!

You're doing brilliantly, don't be disheartened by not running when you planned to- life's like that. If everything went to plan it would be boring :lovestruc Sorry about your test results, but as has already been said hopefully you'll really feel the benefit of it once you start following a plan.

Go you :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: !

Ok...Who all has seen the new INAGURAL Everest 5K Trek??? OMG!!! I would LOVE to go...Now, got to get rich, convince Matt to go... So many races, so little time. I am soo getting sucked in! What to do! :confused3

Oh, I wonder how many people on a team? Just two...maybe more??? I probably should not get too excited. We're not rich by any stretch of the imagination... Registration, room, airfare...ugh. Where is my cash cow?

Stacie -- Congrats on signing up for the Minnie! IT is going to be a lime-green shirt filled weekend! How fun!
I know that Everest race looks pretty cool, but you should definitely check out the Race for the Taste on 10/12. It is 10k (old hat for you after Minnie! ;) ) and the medal is SOOOO cool!

Looking forward to hearing all about your training. I think we are now less than 100 days from race day, IIRC.

Hi Stacie,

Congratulations on registering for the Minnie. You will ROCK the race.

Now, about your allergies. If you are gluten sensitive, that could be contributing to your weight. You may find that the weight just comes off. There are a ton of gluten free websites, cookbooks, and products. I can help you with the dairy allergy. My dd is allergic to milk. The alternatives have really improved over the last 2 years. Now, the really good news is that most dark chocolate is dairy free, and Ghirradelli semi-sweet chocolate chips are dairy free. Mo milk does not mean no chocolate. You can also use Hershey's chocolate syrup.

Take care,
Beth

Hi Stacie,
Great job signing up for the Minnie.Do you guys drive or fly? Sorry to hear about your allergies but it may be a blessing in disguise and answer alot of questions for you.

You guys really get me pumped up to register everytime I am on here.I need to make a decision. I wish I was within driving distance, I would do them all.NOT FAIR!!!!!!!

Have a great one,
LInda

Thanks everyone for stopping in!!! So it's been two weeks since I've done any running/walking. I am happy to report I got on the treadmill this morning. I warmed up, cut on one of my new playlist and I was off! So, the fantasy of being able to run didn't really come true, but I ran some...mostly walked. Still did just over two miles in just over 30 min. I felt really good so I'm happy. Today was supposed to be cross training so I didn't want to push the running... I'm supposed to run tomorrow so I'll push it just a tad bit more tomorrow.

That's about it on the training front.

I am trying to do laundry and get mostly packed for Disney... Did I mention we are leaving Thursday to go back to Disney w/ Matt's mom, dad, granny and grandad. They haven't been in like 20 years and as I was helping them plan their trip, they decided they wanted us to go. (I think they were feeling a little overwhelmed.) So, it didn't take much twisting our arm... We agreed to go back w/ them. They are going Thursday to Thursday and we will join them Thursday to Sunday. This way I think they will feel more comfortable--especially with the transportation aspect.

So...I'm off now to wash and clean and pack...

Everyone enjoy their weekend!
Stacie

Holy cow!! No fair!! Gonna make WDW a weekly thing now or what?

Wow Stacie! How awesome that you're going back to WDW already!! Great job getting back on the ol' treadmill. :thumbsup2

Hey Stacie-WTG for getting back into your training! Don't worry about walking today, at least you got the miles in! Good Luck with your workout today.

I am so jealous that you are heading back to WDW already!!!!! I want to go!!!!
